I love the hotel.nice location and good breakfast. staff knows how to speak english. big room and comfy bed and best of all, the shower.
Clean room, great view from the 23rd floor to the Bund and river. Most people in the reception speak decent english and are very helpful. Bund and shopping areas within walking distance.

Great hotel for the price. Location is close to the Bund and shopping. Comfortable beds! Satellite TV is weak on English speaking channels.
Good location, officer on 31st floor give us only 1 key not 2 ,he said this is hotel regulation.just need improve reception officer and trained them how to smile
My husband and I stayed at the Salvo for four nights and found it quite comfortable. We had upgraded to an executive room and although the internet was very slow it was good to check emails etc. free of charge. The breakfast was very good and the staff polite. We did miss the friendliness of other hotel staff on our trip and no one spoke much English even on the concierge desk. The hotel is in a good location with the Bund just 7 min walk away and also shopping streets and cheap restaurants nearby.
Great place, staff very helpful. Lots of westerner's which is nice. The room's computer was only in Chinese so I had to use Skype on my Iphone in their foyer. Was informed the Gym was out of order which brings the rating down some-what. Other-wise an enjoyable stay and I would recommend to anyone!
Very good price, helpful staff, an older style 5 star hotel, a good one nevertheless. I may well stay there again, if I have business in and around the Bund again.
Salvo was nice. Close to the Metro, Bund, NanJing Rd and Old Shanghai. Think our room was a business twin (2 single beds) suite with 2 breakfast vouches each day. We stayed 4 nights here. I liked the wood furniture in the room. The price was good for the area. We had stayed at a different Shanghai hotel further away for about the same price (and it was a reduced price too).
Very nice hotel in the best place of Shanghai - both the modern and historical experiences are available at just some steps from the hotel door. Friendly staff, very clean, good breakfast, rooms are interesting and rich of details. I like the possibility to make tea or coffee in my room. Thank you, Salvo (happiness in the middle, as someone translated to us ;-).
Good clean hotel with large rooms walking distance to Bund and shopping street good english breakfast -- waiers a little surly I wouldstay there again when next visiting Shangai
Excellent hotel.
The location is good. From our room we can see the Oriental Peral Tower. Breakfast is quite good. I will stay again in this hotel next time if I visit Shanghai
6 days stay at the end of December 2010, the hotel location was wonderful to go shopping as quite close to the Nan Jing East Road and also close to the subway station for transportation, but the water quality @ this hotel was disappointed for drink and shower, hard to describe it ( may be the water quality in the whole city of Shanghai is not good ).
We stayed four days in this hotel arounde christmas 2010. Our room was ipgraded foor free to executive businses. From our bedroon window we had an amanzing view in the Bund and Pudong. The breakfast on the 31e floor was very good.
The hotel was in a very good location to explore the downtown and to reach buisnnes centers. Hotel personels and staffs were quite helpful with hospitality. Room design was somewhat old but very clean. I found the hotel higher in quality then I expected.
The Salvo is a typical local hotel from the early nineties. It looks nice, spacious, but it lacks the top class and service you would expect from the star level. Nevertheless, the location makes up most of the unmet expectations. And the view on the 31st floor is excellent.
very good hotel and good price. If I want to plan atrip to Shanghai.i will stay in this hotel
Hotel in a good location, close to the bund.
We booked and paid our accomodation in August for occupation in later October, and due to rooms being overbooked when we arrived, we were upgraded to a suite which was unexpected and very nice! We had an illness problem while there and found the staff gave great advice and help in getting to a hospital with an English speaking doctor so we could obtain proper medical teatment.
The Salvo hotel was reasonably located within walking distance (15 minutes) of the Shanghai metro and quite close to decent hole-in-the-wall eateries and convenience stores. It's only a bit further to the Bund, East Nanjing Road and some good food streets. However, the interior decor was totally overblown gold and wood. What I could barely tolerate was the stench of Shanghai's sewers, which obviously came up via the bathroom plumbing. You could smell it in the street and, unfortunately, in the bathroom as well.
