For Location this Hotel could not be better, the hotel was very basic, but staff very friendly and helpful. We were extremely lucky to be put in a room with a balcony and our own sink, the room was a lot larger than i imagined, and the shared bathrooms very immaculately clean, as with the rest of the hotel. We stayed 3 nights and should we come again for a weekend would seriously consider staying here again, fort he price we paid and bearing in mind the cost of venice is beyond outrageous, this was a well priced hotel.
Nice and comfortable hotel 1*,located in the heart of Venice, for reasonable price.
Although room was basic and we shared a bathroom it was very comfortable and the bathroom was extremely clean. The breakfast was very good and all staff especially Laura we very helpful.
This room was very basic and had no TV. Shared bathroom facilities. Everything was very quaint and we were a short walk from Piazza San Marco. Hotel staff were very helpful.
Hotel was fine and well located. Price was reasonable. Staff was helpful, despite some slight language barriers. Internet was quirky. Why not include wifi access in room price, rather than trying to gouge a few extra euros out of an overpriced internet connection.
We were in one of the rooms with a bathroom, which was very convenient and comfortable, but it was basic. The wall between us and another room must have been quite thin as we could hear the people next door talking, using the hairdryer and watching TV. The safe in the first room we were in was broken, so with no fuss they moved us to another room. Location is very convenient.
Nice French decorated room just round the corner from San Marco square. Very quaint. Breakfast ok. Walls are a little thin but location is great.
good spot close to the 2 main squares but very noisy and 1 shower for 7 bedrooms, breakfast ok, from san marco water taxi stop walk along grand canal to your left as far as possible, turn right, first left and keep on going straight and the hoel will be on your right
Unsurpassed location. Rooms are small but location is worth it.
lovely ,nice located , clean
Good budget hotel located close to San Marco Square. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Instructions fo find the hotel were vague and we found these alternative directions were more helpful - From main station terminal catch the number 1 or 82 ferry down Grand Canal to S. Maria d.Giglio stop. Walk down the narrow passageway (C. Gritto d. Campanile) to Campo S. Maria del Giglio square. Turn left, cross 2 small bridges over canals then walk stragiht ahead approx 50 metres along C.Zaguri and hotel is on the right side.
The San Maurizio hotel is centrally located, but as we found out, the center is not where you want to be in Venice. Venice is so small that staying near San Marco is not only unnecessary, it's rather a bad idea. The restaurants are far more expensive and supply rather bland, disgusting fare designed clearly for tourists, and the flavor of Venice is lost among the throngs of tourists who are your only compatriots in this part of town. The hotel itself was fine,. Tiny rooms but clean and charming--keep your windows shut at night to avoid being bitten alive.
If you are looking for a good quality hotel for a great price in a fabulous location, look no further than this one. We were a little anxious about it being a 1* hotel, but took a chance based on previous reviews. We are so glad we did - the room was small but very clean and nicely decorated. The ensuite was modern and clean. Now for the location - you will struggle to find a better location in Venice, and certainly not at this value. Literally 2 minutes walk to St Mark's Square, about 5 minutes to Rialto, fantastic location. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend this hotel, and will definitely stay there again when we return to Venice.
Hard to believe a one star hotel can be so good!
The facilities are medium quality, but the staff are friendly and helpful, and the location and price are excellent! Just what we were looking for.
The rooms are small but cosy, very clean but it pays to have an en-suite as they're lovely!! Fantastic location, 2 minutes walk from St Marks Square and a real bargain.
