The Bed&Breakfast Residence Santa Chiara is an ancient bourgeois house built in the second half of the 16th century, in the historical center of Lucca inside the medieval boundaries. It is located in front of the suggestive gardens of Bottini Villas, once residence of Elisa Bonaparte. From the Residence, you can easily reach in a few minutes, all the principal historical attractions of the old city and all other the beauties of Tuscany. The residence offers a pleasant vacation with comfort and relax in an enchanting atmosphere from the medieval charm. Restructured in January 2006, the Residence is composed by a principal block with all rooms with private bathroom and air conditioner and a dependance. From may to October, it will be possible to have delicious buffet breakfast in the little new garden

Getting there:By Train: If you are arriving by train, you can easily reach us on foot in about ten minutes from the railway station, or alternatively you may take a taxi. If you come walking, enter the town of Lucca passing from Porta Elisa, then turn right into Via Bacchettoni and then the first left into Via Brunero Paoli. At the end of the street, in the corner with Via S.Chiara, you will see our Residence. By Car: Highway exit at Lucca; follow the signs to the centre and the railway station (stazione); from here, keeping the town walls on the left, take the road around the walls and after the first bend, turn on the left and enter Lucca through the white town gate called Porta Elisa. Then turn right into Via Bacchettoni and then the first left into Via Brunero Paoli. At the end of the street, in the corner with Via S.Chiara, you will see our Residence. By Plane: The Residence furnish taxi service from/to airport at specials prices.
Check-in Procedure:The check in time is from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm and from 03:00 pm to 07:00 pm.
Car parking:Free Garage on - site. (We need to reservation of the garage).
Child Policy:Children until 8 years in the beds with parents are free. Cot EUR 10,00 per day
Santa Chiara Residence is described as a bed and breakfast and our booking was for "dependence". This turned out to be a room in an apartment in a building down the road. However, this was not a problem for us, the room was spacious and had a reasonable bathroom, and all the facilities one would expect in a hotel bedroom, except a phone. We also had the use of the kitchen there - fridge was handy and we could have cooked if we had wanted. Staff very friendly and helpful and gave us lots of information about Lucca. Breakfast buffet was excellent.
Acceptable location, very attractive price, but a dodgy room with a very noisy air conditioning. On the positiv side, fridge in the "apartment", that was nice.
The place is very cosy indeed. Unfortunately, there is no lift.

We stayed in dependant double room with private external bathroom. The room had just been renovated and was very nice. The main house (reception and breakfast) was less than 100 away. Surroundings were great - the old town of Lucca and mountains around the town. Staff spoke quite good English. We would definitely recommend this hotel!
The residence is central for all attractions and entertainment in the ancient walled part of the city. Staff are friendly and helpful. Our rooms were spacious and had character.Standard continental breakfast.
The staff at this small hotel, inside the walls of Lucca, was very helpful. We arrived without directions to the hotel or a map of Lucca. We called the hotel in hopes they could help....they actually came to where we were so we could follow them to the hotel. They also recommended a restaurant close to the hotel. Since they made the reservations for us, we were given a discount on our bill that evening. You do have to leave the hotel for breakfast. They give you a voucher to use at a cafe only a few blocks away.
The ladies at the front desk were very helpful with everything from recommending restaurants to finding laundry service. They also helped find a room at our next destination. The rooms were clean and the price was reasonable. The rooms, mainly the doors, could use more sound insulation. The location inside the old city walls is great. I would consider staying there again.
