This hotel is in a great location. We stayed in the annex (there appear to be two of these), which was very reasonably priced. Ours was on a street adjacent to the square where the main hotel is located. Our room shared a communal living area with one other room with a sofa, dining table and big screen TV. This area and the room itself was beautifully decorated in typical Venetian style. There was a bit of a smell in the room, but this went away as soon as we entered and didn’t bother us. The hotel offers a nice continental breakfast in the main building and there is also free Wi-Fi access. I would highly recommend staying in this hotel.
Great spot, though it would have helped to have some directions on the location, especially as we had a disabled friend travelling with us. The staff were wonderful in accommodating this person and upgraded the room for better access which was so appreciated. Would gladly recommend this place
A good smaller hotel - excellent location, and very helpful staff. we were made very welcome when we arrived very early and given facilities to freshen up etc. Very good value by European standards.
Nice comfortable room. Great quiet location, but at the same time very central. Great breakfast! Only one minus point: the hot water system produces alternatively hot and cold water so it is nearly impossible to take a nice shower with constant temperature. For the rest to be strongly recommended in this price category.
Even if you are in the annex, which we were, it is a very charming hotel with nice decor and great breakfasts. The location couldn'tbe better, between the Rialto bridge and San Marco, in a quiet location. I'd stay there again.
Like many other reviewers of this hotel, my room was in the annex and although not far at all from the main hotel, it did lack reception and the feel of a hotel. The room was adequate and clean. The cold breakfast was good - plenty of cereals, fruit (tinned), youghurt tubs, cakes and pastries, biscuits, cheeses and cold meats. The breakfast room staff (well, mainly 1 waitress) was very friendly and efficient. The location was OK - in between Rialto Bridge and St Marks Square although for a female traveller arriving after dark it did take a couple of tries to find it. Reception in the main building was manned 24 hours a day. My requested wake-up call on the last day did not eventuate and the porter did not start until 7:30 am so I had not help getting my suitcase down a steep flight of stairs.
We stayed for two nights in the beginning of March 2008, everything was ok, room was nice and cosy, no disturbing noise, the hotel is a little bit difficult to find but after all wandering about in Venice is only nice. breakfast was ok. A very good choice!
The hotel is a short walk from the Rialto bridge & St Marks Square - great location. We stayed in the annex part to the hotel, but this was still very nice, although you had to drop your key back at the main reception when you went out for the day. The room wasn't huge, but had everything we needed, including ensuite bathroom, TV wardrobe etc. The staff were very helpful. The breakfast was great - buffet style with plenty to eat from bread, meat and cheese to cereal and fruit. Would definately recommend this one.
We were fortunate to be allocated rooms in the main building and not an annexe. We had a triple room which was large and spacious with a view over the square and a double which was comfortable and well-appointed but very small. We paid far less than the rates on the hotel's website and it represented very good value for money.
Lovely Hotel. Our room was typically small for Venice but everything else made up for it.
Great hotel, handy location and very friendly staff. The hotel also has free internet access for patrons.
We found the rooms very comfortable and the location was ideal for us as it is between San Marco and Canareggio. Would stay there again.
excellent hotel that did everything it said on the tin, friendly staff, easy access to local sights good breakfast and a great fish restaurant right outside the door.
A good location, about 200 metres from the Rialto. However, a map is rerquired to weave your way through the maze of streets. The room was small and the space between the sink and shower was a tight to squeeze.
Room obtained was in annexe at top of building - very small. Four floors - 59 steps - no lift.
Excellent.
Our family of four from South Africa (2 children aged 7 and 4) found the Santa Marina to be a lovely hotel. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. All our needs and expectations were met and exceeded. I would definitely choose this hotel if we visit Venice again.
We were placed in the annex at the top of three flights of very steep stairs with NO lift. The room was very small but clean and in reasonable repair. The stairs were a problem though so we asked to be moved. Hotel was very obliging and moved us the next day to a larger ground floor room. Overall, I would rate this hotel as 3.5 star, not 4, and a room in the main hotel would be better than one in the annex. Continental breakfast served in good surroudings and adequate. But no decent orange juice.
Small, friendly hotel ideally situated overlooking quiet square, but close to all the sights.
An awesome hotel with great service, great location and very helpfull staff. A great experiance.... Very highly rated.
