Santa Marta Hotel Barcelona

Very good location in the centre of city, near of metro and railway station.

Good location although the hotel was very difficult to find at first as the street was very small and didn't appear on any maps! The room was clean and tidy but the furniture etc had seen better days.

Friendly, helpful staff. Not all speak English but they read mime very well. Very close to superb Barcelona sights. Very close to Estacio de Franca with a direct rail (RENFE) connection to the Airport. Breakfast a bit feeble but there are plenty of cafes and bars nearby. I'll certainly be staying there again.

I only went to breakst on one morning because the orange juice and fruit was a little questionable. The room was small but clean and the location ideal to the Franca Station.

Well i would say its got a great location about 5 minutes to the Marina area and the ramblas which is the main walking areas. The staff are all friendly.

Excellent hotel for a 2 star, suitable for those on a budget break. Location wise, it is great as the Metro is just round the corner, and the harbour just a ten minute walk. Staff were very friendly and helpful in all areas.

The hotel really was perfectly situated near the nicest area of Barcelona (I think!), La Ribera. The rooms were small and basic but very clean and comfortable. Ample amount of fresh towels each day, and good, unobtrusive room service. We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Santa Marta, and found the hoteliers to be courteous and pleasant. Thank you for your services!

Fairly good location. The staff were spontaneously helpful when I had a problem with my luggage. A place to put your head down on a pillow.

Very modest small hotel with a good location.

As a base for a short stay of 3 nights this was an ideal hotel. The location was very convenient. Near to the metro station and a short walk to most of the tourist areas in Barca such as the Port Olympic, the beaches, La Rambla, Barri Gothic and many museums. The staff were very helpful with places to visit and spoke good English (and they understood my Spanish!). We Felt safe walking around - hardly any hassle from beggers. Less than in a lot of UK towns & cities. Will use this hotel again.

This hotel was an average hotel with a great location. It was easy to walk to all the main attractions, but did not offer many luxuries.

Good quiet central location, however extensive renovations taking place with some exposed wiring and all the dust and noise that goes with it. I would certainly stay again, but only after the workmen have left, which may be some months away.

Clean, basic accommodation in nice location not far from Las Ramblas. Breakfast service was good and reception staff very helpful. Rooms slightly on the small side.

I heard before i went down to Barcelona that many people didn´t think it was a nice hotel and the service was low. I think the hotel was more than i had expected, the personal in the lobby was very kindly and helpful. It was near the harbour and the main streets. The fee for the room and breakfast was good. Of course the rooms where quite small and the bathrooms wasn`t in the quality shape. If you just go there to sleep and want to be near attractions i must say that i recomend the hotel.

Bit old fashioned but very centrally located and well-priced hotel

This was a value for money hotel centrally located. No frills attached but adequate. There were six of us in the group. We had no complaints.

I chose this hotel from my home in Australia because it was the cheapest hotel available in Barcelona at this website. (Some of the hostels were much cheaper, but comments on their website about theft from dormitories made me wary of them.) At US$50/ni, with continental breakfast included, Santa Marta was fine. It is within easy walking distance of most museums and sights in Barcelona. It is also an easy walk to the Barceloneta Metro station. The various guys on the desk were friendly and spoke English well enough to be helpful. I initially booked for two days. After three days out of Barcelona, I returned to this hotel because it was good value for the price. Be careful in Barcelona. A friends had her handbag ripped from her at the Catalunya square metro station.

A relatively inexpensive hotel located very near to some of the most frequented parts of Barcelona. Accommodation has seen better days but you get what you pay for. Clean with helpful staff. Ideal for the traveller on a tight budget or who doesn't expect to spend too much time in his/her hotel.

At the price I paid I only expected a fairly basic hotel and that's precisely what I got. The hotel room seemed a bit dingy. There was a small television, but, when I switched it on all I saw was a 'snowstorm' i.e. no visible channels. When I enquired at the reception desk, I was told the only available channel was in Spanish - so no use to me. There were 2 males who manned the reception desk. One was always very cheery and helpful. The other seemed a little more staid in his approach - and thought nothing of smoking whilst on duty behind the desk. As a non-smoker, I found this quite unpleasant, having to have a conversation with him whilst he was smoking. Location was excellent. Just a minute or two and you were in the heart of the old town.
