Santana Hotel Vila do Conde

"We stayed 4 nights in 2 rooms October 2008. On checking into our rooms, which were a long way from the main reception areas, I requested a room with a separate shower in the bathroom (not over the bath). We were very promptly shown another room which was a junior suite, and were permitted to transfer at no extra charge. - Hotel staff very pleasant. - Quality of food at breakfast was bleak - cheap fruit "juice," sugary cereals, tinned fruit on occasions, cheap ham, no variety of hot food; self-service everything including hot drinks (only 1 person manned the breakfast room mostly). - Bedrooms were dull; beds were hard. - My friend found insect bites on her body; I found a flea in my bed. - The fitness room was very small with only a few machines; pool area looked shabby and uninviting - we didn't bother to use these facilities after viewing them. We all felt this hotel does not merit 4 star rating, more a very average 3 star facility." - Anonymous

"This hotel is very well run and organised. We arrived at 09.30 and because the room was available we were allowed to check in and have breakfast. The only drawback was it is at the top of a very steep hill,but Vila do Condo is a hilly area anyway so anyone should expect a hike to anywhere anyway!!. We would recommend this hotel and would stay there again." - Anonymous
