Sao Jose Hotel Porto

We spent 2 nights in October at the Sao Jose Hotel, Porto. The hotel is located very close to the main pedestrian shopping district and only a minute's walk to the Bolhao metro station, which is very convenient. We considered the hotel to be excellent value for money, very clean, hot showers, adequate breakfast including fresh fruit, ham, cheese, breads etc. Our room was on the 4th floor facing the street - surprisingly no traffic noise thanks to the double double glazing. We also had an individual air conditioning unit in our room which was great as generally hotel rooms can be stifling. The only downside: beds are extremely hard. I asked about moving to a different room but was advised all the beds are the same. Apart from that, this hotel is highly recommended for a 3 star facility.

Standard hotel in a central location in Oporto.

The hotel looks very scruffy from the outside but the rooms are fantastic. It felt like a spacious, modernly furnished two-room apartment. All leather furniture. Definitely staying there again next time we will come to Porto. Close to the shopping areas.

Great value, great location.

Very convenient. Next to Via Catarina Shopping which has a huge food court and another new shopping centre.

Absolutely fantastic service. Really friendly and helpful. When my travelling campanion was ill, they were really compassionate and caring - real, genuine, heartfelt customer service. I would warmly recommend this hotel to anyone.

Nice hotel, super central with parking in PLaza Major parking garage and two minutes walk. Last minute booking very cheap, and including luxury breakfast!

We were very satisfied with this simple hotel. It had a very convenient location right in the middle of Porto. The room itself and the facilities were adequate for the price. Sound and thermal insulation weren't the best. I'd recommend the hotel for anyone looking for a good price at a convenient location that does not expect the Ritz or wants to impress their girlfriend ;-)

For the price of the room I think it's a good value. The hotel looks a bit old but it's very clean, the air conditioner of our two rooms were a bit weak. It is located a walking distance of the old part of Porto. Gracias

Friendly and helpful reception. Good sized bedroom with en suite bathroom. Only 15 minutes walk to the waterfront and 5 minutes from the nearest Metro

Very nice hotel. The location is very very good - metro just 1 min. from hotel, also the shoping street, hotel is in the center of Porto. The hotel is very close to all atractions. I will recomend this hotel to everyone, who wants to have a good service for the very good price.

Great value for money, but rather run-down. Staff is nice and helpful. Breakfast is good (beware that the orange juice is really apricot juice). Really central location which is nice. Sound insulation is very bad, we heard people walking around in the room above.

Very good price and location!

Nice and clean hotel with adequate breakfast. Near metro (useful if coming from airport) and main shopping street. A little further from river (15 mins) and nightlife but not bad if you don't mind walking some hills. Would recommend!

Old-style decor that could use an update. But clean rooms and a great location. Friendly staff also.
