Parking by Valet excellent and they did not mind to bring me my cell which I had left in the car. Friendly reception too. This well-loved and historic landmark, formerly known as the MLC Building, has been completely refurbished and transformed into the stylish 3-star plus Scenic Hotel Auckland (formerly Scenic Circle Airedale Hotel).
Constructed in 1954, it was Auckland’s first high-rise office building. The building is now protected by the Historic Places Trust, and as such, every attention was given to the lavish restoration of this unique landmark.
The art deco charm of the 1950’s is reflected throughout the hotel’s architecture with beautifully presented areas such as the entrance foyer. The guest rooms have a modern apartment style, yet carry the art deco theme through in the finer details such as the eye-catching black and white artworks that complement each room.
Scenic Hotel Auckland is centrally situated on the corner of Queen and Airedale Streets. BY CAR: When travelling by car take the motorway into Auckland city, take the Nelson street off ramp and turn right on to Cook Street . At the Fourth set of traffic lights turn left onto Queen Street. Take the first right turn on to Airedale Street. The Scenic Hotel Auckland is located on the corner of Airedale and Queen Street.
TAXIS: located at any airport you will find a vast number of taxis or shuttles. A taxi from Auckland Domestic or International Airport should cost between NZ$50.00 - NZ$60.00 (no tip required) while a shuttle will cost you approx NZ$40.00, however the shuttle will be a longer trip as they will drop off other customers at different hotels throughout the trip. The airport bus service leaves Auckland airport every 20 minutes and costs NZ$18.00 one way. The bus has a stop at the Auckland Town Hall which is opposite the Scenic Hotel Auckland. |
