Shakespeare Hotel London

This was a really cheap hotel so we did not know what to expect. 2 minutes walk from Paddington station, Ideal.... Friendly staff and we found the breakfast enough for us.. Cereal, toast, boiled eggs and juice, tea and coffee.. what more do you need! Only draw back was No lift, if you have a lot of heavy luggage, it could be a drawback. ideal for backpackers. This modest Paddington hotel is in a very convenient location. I found staff helpful. The single room was small, but clean.

The location of the hotel is ideal and the price very resonable. The breakfast, however, is bad (or worse), but nice breakfast can be bought in the very neighbourhood.

I booked a double for single use and got a 2 X 2.5 metre room above a railway line, Still I slept OK but there is no lift and it is a basic hotel.

Very handy to Paddington station; however tube line runs beneath the hotel giving some noise. Otherwise, quite good value for money.

This hotel occupies a number of houses in an area where almost all buildings are full of similar low-budget hotels. Noise and vibrations from the underground lines are a problem in the lower floors. The staff did not seem happy to offer me a room in a higher floor, but did it after I threatened to leave. Breakfast was not luxurious, but not inadequate either. The hotel was overbooked, and in my case they respected the [website] voucher over the reservations that other people had made directly with them.

Very basic - not quite prepared for a single room with 5 beds in it - wondered if I would get company! Shower was smelly and tele did not work. Despite cheapness and good location would not stay again.

A one might expect for this price in central London, there are compromises to be made. My room was tiny with very basic furnishings, but clean and with a comfortable bed! The shower-room was also small, but newly fitted and spotlessly clean. Public areas were all very tatty - and breakfast was dreadful (disorganised and very poor quality).
