Getting there:Travelling north along George Street (in the city), turn left into Essex Street and then third right into Cumberland Street. Main entrance of the hotel is on Cumberland Street. Only five minutes walk to bus, train and ferry at Circular Quay, and five minutes walk from Wynyard train station.

We decded to stay in the city after hosting a function at the Rocks. Although we only needed a bed for the night, we were extremely impressed with this hotel. The bed was SO comfortable, aircon was quiet and they serve a la carte breakfast which was terrific - buffet looked good too.

Its a pleasure to have free wifi at rooms. The only complaint of my wife was no full body mirror in rooms

This has to be the best hotel I've ever had the pleasure to stay at! The service and staff were really helpful and polite. The views from the room were fantastic and if you get the Horizon Club special, the complimentary breakfast and afternoon teas are amazing. The lounge Club on level 30 had stunning views of The Harbour Bridge and Opera House. We're definitely going back!
The location is good for doing everything and the room is comfortable!

We stayed 5 enjoyable nights at the Shangri-La Hotel in Sydney. The service and attitude of all the staff was fantastic and very friendly. We ate great meals in both restaurants, Altitude being a real treat (book early, especially Fri, Sat and Sun sittings). Our only disappointment (slight) was our view. We booked and paid a little extra for a Deluxe Opera House View room to find it did indeed have a view of the Opera house, but only if you sat right inside the window ledge. The photos illustrated on the Shangri-La Hotels HotelClub listing definitely didn't match the room we had. The view aside, our room was very large and included a small sitting room which was perfect for eating room service meals. Location of the Hotel was OK with many attractions within easy walking distance - but be warned the walk back from Circular Quay is up many steep stairs.
Great location for a trip to the Rocks. the staff were very friendly and accommodating. The room could have been dusted but it wasn't too bad. Nice view of the mountains would have loved a view of the bridge and opera house better luck next time. Breakfast amazing. We will be back hopefully before our next wedding anniversary.
Coupled with a wonderful dining experience with degustation meal in Altitude it was a great stay.
MY daughter and I felt positively pampered the whole time we were there, our little waiter Sunday night at the cafe was a perfect delight! The location was just perfect for us, the hotel was easy to find as we could see it always on our travels within the city! We're going back in October 2012!!
Our stay at the Shangrila was most enjoyable, all of the staff from reception to restaurants to service personnel were very professional and warm. The hotel itself has a wonderfull location overlooking the spectacular Sydney Harbour vista, and our whole experience was First Class, weel done Shangrila! hope to stay again very soon.

Great Views exelent deep bath and comfy beds
The view from the 23rd floor of the Shangri-La was amazing! Looking down over the ferries, the Quay and the Opera House and beyond. The room was relatively average in size for the price paid per night, but I must say, the bathroom was INCREDIBLE! If it was possible to drag the king size bed in there, it would have been perfect! Watching the fireworks - for Oprah Winfrey's stay in Oz - was the icing on the cake for a wonderful stay. The service everywhere within the Hotel was fabulous!
