I spent 2 days in this hotel (20-21.05.2010). Wao, I like this hotel. It is recommended to stay in this hotel.
what ever they are suppose to have, it is there, 24 hr free coffee ,96 channel tv , free internet . will happy to stay again . very clean , which is a must for us two bottle tea and water every day .
Its really a nice hotel with excellent service. Nothing much to talk about facilities except free internet and wifi, but the place is really clean, with friendly helpful staffs. Personally I found the taiwanese breakfast to my liking, with vegetarian dishes and also some continental stuff. Ginding coffee machine to serve coffee, so no complains. They even got free adult channels but the downside is, i did not get much sleep as some inconsiderate buffoon turn on the volume of some screaming japanese porn at about 3-4 am in the morning. As the walls were relatively thin, with speakers and music pipe in through the ceiling, neigbours can here mostly everything coming out from the TV. I make complain to the reception at 4 am and they really came up to tell the other room to keep it down. Thats some good service from the hotel. The real setback is the location where u need to walk about 15 mins to the nearest Metro station. Or take a taxi ride to the metro which will cost 70 taiwan dollar.
Hotel should have free shuttle bus to and from the nearest MRT station.
the hotel was awesome! the only problem is the location. it is 2 bus stops away fr the yuan shan MRT station. so you have to board the bus to go to anywhere. service was decent. was a little diappointed on my 2nd day at the hotel, i wanted them to room service my room, but the room was still unmade when i returned, and the shampoo and body wash were not replenished. Besides that, all else is good.
We stayed 3 days at Silken Hotel. Rooms were very pleasant and confortable with a big lcd TV, you can open windows to soak up the atmosphere of the streets. Free internet access in the room (wifi or lan). we always woke up late so we didn't have the chance to try the buffet breakfast. Staff were kind and helpfull. The only inconvenient is that you have to walk 15 minutes by foot to go to the MRT station, but only few dollars by taxi, there are a lot in front of the station(and the japanese self service in the station is very good and cheap) - be carefull to print the hotel's adress in chinese if you come for the first time to the hotel and did not have their card yet, because many of them don't speak and don't read english. The same thing for a map, hotel have map, but the streets writing only in chinese.
Very clean hotel, new and stylish furniture, comfortable beds. Large and clean bathroom. The breakfast is not good for a westerner's taste.
the hotel has a very nice location, a reasonable mostly Chinese-style Bfast and reasonable rates. Service personnel are also very nice and accommdateing. Will certainly stay there again and recommend it to others. Note, however, that I would rate the lower end rooms only 2 stars - the upper end rooms are much nicer (less old feeling) and larger and deserve 3 stars.
Nice clean room, recommended for families.
Pros: - Friendly and polite receptionists. - Very clean and comfortable room. - Free cable internet access in room. - Very nice buffet style breakfast. - Free brewed coffee/tea at breakfast area. - PC with internet access available at breakfast area. - 42" LCD TV with plenty of interesting TV channels. - Although the hotel is not near to train station, it's still very convenient using taxi and bus. Cons: - The air-con cannot be adjusted easily (too cold). - The corridor could be noisy during the night. - Most travel information brochures are in Japanese.
The room and the Bathroom is spacious and the clean. Location is not the best for sight seeing in Taipei, but subway is 10-15 min walk from there. The personel is very nice.
The Silken is a good hotel in a so so location. It is near the airport bus route but that is the only thing going for the location. It is a good 10 to 15 minutes walk to the MRT. This said, the hotels price is a real bargain and you can buy a LOT of taxi rides with what you are saving on the room charge.
I liked this hotel it was nice, a little old but clean. The buffet was ok.
Location is ok provide that you can get around by bus (Lin Sen road), otherwise it is a long walk to the closest MRT.
The breakfast was not that good otherwise the hotel was fine although it was a little far from the CBD.
Stayed in a superior room for 2 nights. Had a really big TV screen with more than 100 channels! 10 min walk to MRT station. Breakfast is included and good. But you should get up early, after 9:00 a.m. there is not so much left!
It was about a 15 minute walk to the MRT station. It went quickly though, and the hotel's excellent accommodations were worth the exercise!
It was a very pleasant hotel with good accommodations. The rooms were well decorated and were really comfortable and clean, as well as the bathrooms. Breakfast was good, with mostly Taiwanese food but always fried eggs and toast also. It was a short distance walking from the hotel to the MRT, 15 minutes, but it was a nice walk and never felt very far.
Cleaned, easy location and honest. Is a very good option in Taipei City.
I was pleasantly surprised. Good value, close to the Soho district and Taipei is pretty big anyway so you are never going to be close to everything. Friendly staff too. Breakfast was fairly marginal, catered primarily only to Chinese tastes so not much of a Western spread but overall good value for money with nice rooms.
