Skycity Darwin Hotel

Much prefer to stay here. I like the iPhone/iPod docking station in the room. This is one of the better hotels for Darwin, it is away from the noisy back packers, and is recently renovated.

Stayed in the 1 bedroom suite. Room was pretty good/spacious - but had a few issues. Biggest complaint though was the 'supposed' heated pool which by global standards was not heated - and was in fact far to cold to swim in for majority of our stay (except for one day when it was very hot). It was set to bone chilling 22-23 degrees - wheras upon searching internet found that heated pools should normally be around 27-28 degrees (27 for lap pool, 28 for recreational use). This was pretty annoying as coming from cold climate (Melbourne) we were really looking forward to swimming - one of the reasons we chose this place over others was it being advertised as having 'largest heated pool in darwin' (which was very misleading as pool would have been this temp without any heating). Staff were quite unwilling to do anything about this - and noticed pretty much nobody was using pool while we were there. Also internet very poor - unable to use it for Skype calls.

We have stayed at this hotel a number of times now and will continue to do so. The hotel staff are always friendly and helpful and the facilities are more than adequate. The seafood buffet for dinner is great value. The pool overlooks the beach and you can enjoy a cocktail sitting in the pool watching the sunset ... just magical. The hotel provides a bus service to the town but it is easier to have your own transport, the shops are not close by. This hotel is ideal for a relaxing time-out holiday.

Skycity Darwin is in a great location on the beach and the best thing about the hotel is the swimming pool and adjoining area. The rooms/accommodation is very tired and frankly very poor for a so called '5 star' hotel!! Finally it is always freezing anywhere indoors.

I found the room to be clean and tidy, and all staff I dealt with were very friendly and helpful.

I thought it was okay but not great for a supposedly five star rating, they ordered my airport taxi for the wrong night and woke me up at midnight to find that out, reception staff average and not friendly, room was clean and spacious, nicely appointed but hotel overall a bit tired and dated, location was hopeless, it may be near the beach (which never had anyone on it!!) but not near anything else, they did have free shuttle into Darwin which helped but you felt quite isolated.

A very professionally run venue with very friendly and efficient staff and front office management. Excellent all round entertainment facilities incorporating flexible food and beverage offerings for all. Highly recommended and certainly in the higher class of venues.

Just about the best place to stay in Darwin While away from the CBD it is close to Cullen Bay restaurants Mindle Beach markets which are open Thursday and Sunday evenings and a pleasant walk to the Museum and Sailing Club

As a regular vissitor this is the best choice of Hotels in Darwin While not in the CBD it is close walking distance to Cullen Bay Mindl markets and Art Gallery

always book at Skycity, always friendly can't do enough to help you. If you have any problems with them, then there is something wrong. They always go out of there way to help you.Go for a day's shopping they will lug all your shopping up to your room no problem. Would'nt stay anywhere else. Keep up the great service Skycity,will recomend to everyone that asks.

staff were coureous and fast we were not in an ocean view room would have preferred that option, lovely and air donditioned.

Will stay again. Ocean View Room was comfortable and convenient. Hotel starting to look a bit tired. Renovations certainly due. Great pool, good resturaunts on site. Golf and Tennis facilities a plus.

we have stayed at SkyCity 2 times now, and we love the location being on the beach and direct access into casino and resturants. The infinity pool is fantastic with pool bar service, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable beds, and the Sunset lounge has the best steak we have ever tasted and only $14.95 (6-7pm) but still only $25 after that, great sunset views over the beach Between March and Oct you have the Mindle beach night markets right next door and they are great, the city is only a few mins away by car and hotel does a shuttle into city and airport

The hotel was three mins from the city (by Cab) which was very welcome as there was quite a lot of activity at the Casino and restaurants to chose from. Only issue was the shuttle bus only ran twice a day each way so we needed to catch cabs

always enjoy staying at this hotel. Everything there you don't have to leave the hotel if you don't want to.

If you normally stay at a 4* hotel then this definitely is not what you would expect it is more 2*. Our first room - which had been updated - was only Standard although we had paid an extra premium for a Superior Ocean View. Our view of the Ocean was OK if you had tunnel vision!! After waiting 2 days to change room the next had an excellent Ocean View and had not been updated but was better. The coffee shop is just a bar downstairs in the Casino so not somewhere you would want to stay too long in and the main eaterie is buffet style for Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner. There are two other restaurants but we did not try these. The hotel is situated outside central Darwin so you need to take a taxi or the Hotel shuttle everytime to go in so the hotel tends to have the monopoly when it comes to eating. The staff were very nice and do a good job. The owners of this property should try and concentrate on getting this Hotel up to standard instead of just relying profits from the Casino.

Staff very good eg concierge, reception - helpful re tour checking. Pool bar quite often unattended. Need more sunlounges around the stunning pool. Gym only modest. Good coffee at Aqua - liked the fishtank. Does air cond in room have override to switch off overnight? Specify where the hotel shuttle drops off / collects in CBD.

Very accomodating, fun, comfortable hotel. A gift shop or convenience shop would be a good addition since rather isolated.

A very enjoyable hotel, staff and facilities ranked high and would definately go back if in Darwin.
