"The Sofitel Silom Hotel Bangkok was outstanding. We stayed from Jan. 25-29th 2008. great views of Bangkok, friendly staff,the breakfast and happy hour were an added plus to our stay + friendly hotel guests. We decided to extend our stay at Sofitel Silom but it was booked. We went to the Grand Sukhumvit By Sofitel Bangkok.It was dated without views...small windows, hotel slightly unkept and not a 5 star hotel. We decided not to stay there. The hotel called for a taxi and wanted me to go to a travel agent to book another room elsewhere. I had to argue with the driver and hotel to take me to an internet cafe. I then booked the Lebua which was an outstanding 5 star hotel. The taxi took us there and said it was not in Silom area which it was and said it was an hour and a half ride and it only took 20 minutes and he charged $45 US dollars, asked for a tip, and should have been $2.00 to $5.00. Internet booking can save you money. This was a small annoyance in beautiful Bangkok. Marlene" - marlene gerosa
