This hotel is a 'must see' and 'must stay' I can't wait to go back there.
What an experience! We stayed 2 nights at this lovely iconic hotel. Our original plan was to spend 1 night in the newe Opera wing and 1 night in the original historic wing, however after having experienced the new wing and the Club Sofitel facilities associated with it - there was no question about us changing our plans and upgrading to the new wing for the last night! The service is spectacular, the staff are amazing, the hotel is breath-taking and the location is convenient. My only regret was that we couldnt spend more time in Hanoi and at this amazing hotel.
Excellent service, comfort and food.
Our family had two rooms, one in the historic wing and one in the new Opera wing. My wife and I throughly enjoyed the historic flavor our room, while our sons enjoyed the modern theme of the Opera wing. We could not have had a better time than we had at the Metropole.
This is a beautiful hotel. We enjoyed our stay tremendously. The staff were very helpful and friendly.
Good points: Friendly, efficient staff; beautiful rooms. Bad points: Some building work noise from adjacent property. Hotel chauffeur service from the airport at $55 was very expensive for a 8 year old Mercedes; taxis at $12 just as good - go for a Toyota.
(1)The hotel offered us a complimentary drink at their new cafe 'La Terrasse'. When we went there, the female wait-person was obliging until she found we were having a complimentary drink, and then was rude : we walked out. The hotel should not offer this service if they can't do it with charm. (2) Business centre facilities are (a) in an adjacent building, not in the main hotel (b) are inadequate for a 5-star hotel.
Seems the best place to stay in Hanoi, International standards, excellent front desk service.
