Solfatara Hotel Pozzuoli

"The hotel is above the town of Pozzuoli, our room on the first floor had a partial view of the bay, those above would have a better view. The volcanic site of Solfatara is close to the hotel, so at times the smell of sulphur was noticeable - I did not find this a problem, it would depend on personal reaction to the smell. The facilities and service were good, and the buffet breakfast was fine. We travelled by car, free parking was available in the hotel yard. The hotel is adjacent to bus stops, and the service to Pozzuoli was frequent. The no.32 line to Naples stops outside, although the frequency is approx. half-hourly. The railway station is about 1 km. down the hill. All in all, the hotel made a good base for exploring the area west of Naples, and from Pozzuoli there are ferries to Procida and Ischia. Our stay was in early November, and the prie was good for a four-star hotel." - Alan White
