The kitchen area wasn't clean and the rooms were very cold

Location was central, staff very helpful. Facilities were good, all in all a good experience.

We had a great stay in this hotel,the location was close to china town and lots of restaurants with cafes next block over.The room was compact with kitchenet and nice bathroom but very comfortable, we were very happy with our stay and the great price we booked it for through hotel club.

Great location , around the corner from the theatres, but breakfast voucher was only for one person and not until 8.30am. The bed was comfy, but for a studio apartment it was tiny. Didn't use the kitchen but it looked great. Loved that we could open the windows and it was quiet. They didn't get the Herald Sun in, but they were helpful when I left my pillow behind although it took them all day to get back to me. Would stay there again, next time will bring coffee for the plunger.

Check-in was smooth. Location is perfect. Right in the middle of everything yet sleeping quarters are quiet. Staff are unobtrusive and very helpful (the lift was out of order and one very kind young gentleman carried my suitcase up to my room. Kitchen was a little grubby but all of the amenities were clean and in perfect order. Highly recommend it to any travelers that like a bit of extra space. I look forward to staying here again.

Staff were very friendly and helpful. The 1 bedroom apartment was very good (their were a few annoying features like the iron being in poor condition, rail feel off bathroom wall and no sink plug). However overall it was spacious and relaxing. The pool and gym were great !. Breakfast was a little sparse however but OK if you just want continental. Overall, was great value and being right in the heart of Melbourne was a real treat1? Will definitely stay again !.

We had booked the studio room for 2 nights and couldn't believe how small the room was. Had no where to put our bags and there was one chair for the both of us. Very disappointed with the hotel internet site as it did not show the studio room. If it did we wouldn't have booked it. After some negotiations we were able to get a bigger and better room after agreeing to pay more. Also the spa and sauna was not working. The building is an old heritage building and is beautiful with a great court yard and pool area. Recommend to check the room before booking.

After trying to confirm we have to beds when we arrived at hotel they had upgraded us to 2 bedroom but one bedroom was near street and very noisy especially at 5am when the gabbage trucks are in the street. mix-up also with breakfast we were told it was for 2 people and after much ado they gave it to us. they must specify this. else, breakfast wasn't anything spectacular, i wouldn't like to pay for it. the hotel is in good location and one girl on reception was exceptionally nice.

The location is great. I stayed here about 7-8 years ago and unfortunately the decor of rooms is unchanged. The spa pool looked as if it hasn't been used in yonks either. I would suggest to Ascott they freshen this complex up.

Top quality, great place to stay. In Chinatown.

I stayed 1 night in deluxe studio. Most disappointed at the small room, and also that it was not self contained as I expected. It was not in the same building as pictured but across the road. I also got stung for parking around the corner at wilsons - as it was the wrong wilsons. Room was very clean and quiet but so small.

This is a delightful hotel with much charm and character. The rooms are small but the central location and the peace and quiet easliy make up for this. Highly recommended and at an affordable price. We will stay there again.

Great location and very reasonably priced. The hotel has great history and was filled with character. Rooms were very small, however the convenient location would bring us back again!

We found Somerset Gordon Place Melbourne, to be very good. It's location is great, being really close to the city but a little bit away from all the noise etc. of a large city. The accommodation was quite comfortable, eventhough the rooms were very small. The staff could not have been any better, as they were very friendly and helpful, whenever we wanted or needed anything or any information. It was lovely to know, that a place like this (heritage listed) is still in such original condition. We will certainly use this accommodation again, if we are ever in Melbourne and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends.
