Ryokan accommodations. This Traditional Ryokan was built and opened for business 100 years ago, and it has been operated by 3 generation of owners. Sumiya Ryokan is located on the eastern part of Kyoto in the heart of the main sightseeing places including Kiyomizu Temple, the Gion (the old Geisha district), and Yasaka Shrine. Sumiya Ryokan has 23 traditional Japanese-style rooms and 18 of the rooms have their own private bath and toilet. Sumiya Ryokan is an authentic Japanese ryokan constructed in the traditional “sukiya” style of Japanese architecture, and stepping into this ryokan is like stepping back in time. There is a Japanese garden, tea ceremony rooms, and priceless Japanese antiques throughout Sumiya Ryokan.

15 minutes taxi ride from JR Kyoto train station. 10 minutes walk from Shijyo-Karasuma subway station. 3 minutes walk from Shiyakushomae subway station on the Tozai line. 10 minutes from Sanjyo station on the Keihan Line

Check-in time is 15:00 hrs. The facility will make reasonable efforts to accommodate early arrivals before 15:00 hrs. Please be aware that a passport will be necessary for foreign travelers.
