The Seaview Motels are on the waterfront and offer fully self contained (includes a kitchen) big family units that can sleep 1 to 8 people. The "sea-view" units have fantastic views of the ocean and mountains. Walking distance to the town cente. Childrens playground and swimming pool 200 metres. Walking distance to the excellent selection of restaurants. Courtesy van available for pickup at bus stop or train station. The units now feature Sky Television. Kaikoura is famous for whale watching, swimming with the dolphins or seals. Fishing charters, diving, sea kayaking, visit the Kaikoura Winery, or lavender farm.

Getting there:On the Kaikoura Esplanade opposite the South Pacific Ocean. Only 1 kilometre from the town centre. Kaikoura is 2 hour 30 minute drive from Christchurch and 2 hours drive from Picton.
Check-in Procedure:Check in is 1pm or early if can be arranged.
Car parking:There is free parking for cars, campervans and boats, etc as we have an off-road parking area.
Child Policy:Baby cot available free of charge. All extra Children and Adults are $15 extra.
although motel is in the budget chain, expected to have at least milk to go with the tea/coffee facilities. Had to go to the motel next door as that was where the manager was to request this. not very helpful in recommending places to dine at. Just as well it was just for a night.

Excellent position, clean facilities and friendly staff.
The rooms in this hotel are more like apartments, some bigger, some smaller. It is quite old, it had a kitchen but very little in the way of cooking equipment, no frypan even, so couldn't even cook bacon & eggs for breakfast or cook a steak for dinner. We were lucky as we arrived early so had the choice of rooms, so we got the room on the ground floor with ocean views. Very relaxing.
This place is unbeatable for its quirkiness, location right on the seafront and the friendliness of its owner. Full of character.
