Formerely a manor house, over the years the Bower Hotel has been sympathetically extended and refurbished to provide first class public areas and modern, comfortable bedrooms, whilst keeping the original charachter and charm. Although less than a minutes drive from the M60, the hotel is set well back from the road, nestled in it's own grounds and has free parking for 120 cars. Many of the bedrooms overlook the pretty garden at the back of the hotel. The Sheridan's restaurant is very popular with hotel guests and local residents and offers a wide range of original and exciting dishes, such as Shark marinated in Cajun spices or Duck breast with a black cherry and Kirsch sauce, and also a variety of traditional fayre, including the ever popular Sirloin Steak Diane, and traditional steak pie. With an extensive wine list and friendly staff, the Sheridan's Restaurant is one of the reasons why so many guests keep returning to the Bower. The location of the Bower is perfect if you wish to visit many of the North West's attractions. Manchester City Centre with its huge selection of theatres, museums, shops and cosmopolitan nightlife is only ten minutes away, the vast shopping paradise of the Traffod Centre is about 30 minutes and Old Trafford, home of Manchester United is a magnet for many. All in all, the Bower is the ideal place to stay, whatever the reason for your visit.

The Bower in my opinion needs a refurbishment, however I always enjoy my stay there. The breakfast is good unless there has been a wedding reception the night before,as this means choices of food are then more limited.

Excellent breakfast - was very happy to find it was a full English as I thought it was going to be continental! It was comfortable and quiet in the room, despite being busy in the reception on the Saturday night. Only thing was that the room was quite cold, but a very minor point in a very good stay.

Very pleasant stay. Although very close to the motorway, it wasn't noisy but consequently easy to find and conveniently placed for going into Manchester. Breakfast was one of the best I've tasted for a long time: very fresh with eggs cooked to order and linen on the table!

Very nice hotel, but liquid soap holders were on the floor instead mounted on walls.Room nice and tidy. Morning brakfest served in decorated room in very upscale way. Very good veriety and freshness of the served food. Good start for another day. Taxi ride very expensive to the airport. Recommending this hotel to everybody.

The hotel is basic and central to where I will be working so is ideal for this. You are also close to the ring road so access round the city centre is ideal. I will be booking again in the near future.

The hotel was old and shabby The room was damp and mouldy and smelt so bad I had to wash all our clothes when we got home - even those we hadn't worn. there was no remote control for the TV and the bedside lights flickered on and off at will. However the service was great and friendly, and the food was absolutely fantastic in the hotel restaurant.

Exceptionally nice staff. Room was nicer than I'd expected, though the hairdrier didn't work. Would stay there again.

We found that our room was very good appart from the temperature, it was a very cold weekend we appreciate but the window although double glazed did not fully shut and was drafty. However we enjoyed our stay.

Spent 2 nights on a business trip. More pleasant atmosphere, but no real advantage over the "sales rep crash pad" chains. I was in what looked like older section - showerroom clean but very small, counterpane with cigarette burns are only complaints. Nice outlook over lawn. Restaurant staff excellent, food reasonably good if a bit limited. If going to the airport by taxi, get a fixed quoted price.

Although [your website] had not advised the hotel of my arrival the receptionist dealt with my check in with minimum fuss and maximum proffessionalism.

It seems to be a popular venue for private functions. Very noisy over Friday and Saturday nights for ordinary residents.
