good hotel for day-trip in Bangkok not far from Kaosan
Not much from outside but nice from within. Good rooms, fairly priced. 10mins walk from popular Koh San Road. Free wi-fi. Would stay here again.
As I was approaching the Hotel in a taxi I wasn't too impressed with the surroundings of The Best Western Swana Hotel, it's in a shabby and old neighbourhood with a flyover facing the entrance. But I must admit, once I stepped inside the Hotel lobby, my whole attitude changed. The receptionists greeted me warmly and somehow you begin to relax in the contemporary Thai decor. I loved my room it was modern and compact, being on the third floor with no elevators didn't bother me at all. The breakfast was good, a choice of American or Thai. This boutique Hotel is up to standards, but for location wise, it's not very conveinent, it's quite a distance to town, but if you want to visit the Museums, different Temples and the Grand Palace then it's very near. I would recommend it to visitors who just want to relax and not into shopping, after all, it's still a good deal staying at this Best Western Hotel chain.
Room was very clean and comfortable, good breakfast served in a lovely courtyard. Altogether a pleasant and good value for money hotel.I would definately recommend, although tell the taxi driver the name of the hotel opposite, as this one is very hard to find.
'Facilities' scored as good rather than very good because there is no lift in this hotel.
I chose this hotel for location, to be close to river and tourist attractions. I still think location is not too bad, but it is very difficult for all taxi drivers to find this place, which could be hassle, since there is no other transport option. Room was bit smaller then expected, but hotel overall is quite new and clean. Breakfest choice was limited, but restaurant is priced well. Staff were very helpfull.
A lot of the taxi drivers do not know where this hotel is even though it is in the heart of Banglamphu, but we found if you say it's near the Trang Hotel ( on the other side of the road) they know straight away! Next time I head out to Bangkok I will stay here without a doubt and would not hesitate to recoomend it.
Great value for money! Some people may not like the distance from the city, however very close to Khao San Road - which we thought was great. The decor is beautiful and the rooms have airconditioning. The only bugbear was the hot water system, which went hot and cold.
My second time in this hotel and i will come again for sure!!
Very nice room, especially for the price. Breakfast was set, cooked, which would get tedious after a few days.
The hotel itself is very nice, the rooms were clean and decorated in an appealing modern style. There is a quiet courtyard where the complimentary breakfast is served. The hotel is like an oasis in the dingy, noisy neighborhood it's located in (well I suppose most of Bangkok is dingy and noisy). The drawbacks: It's a bit of hike from the hotel to major attractions and surprisingly there's no elevator. If a central location and an elevator are not a high priority for you, this hotel offers excellent value.
From the outside, looks very unprepossessing on a busy road. But the rooms are round a quiet courtyard and well appointed. Very helpful staff. If you want to walk to Khao San Road, try to find your way through the back alleys to avoid the busy roads (or take a taxi which costs 40 baht). Only downside is the cafe: no atmosphere and the breakfast very poor: OK if you like a fry-up and - a la thai - sugar in everything: the orange juice, milk, even the bread.
I will definetely stay again in this hotel. So far the best value i have got for my money.
An average hotel. Plus'es: the (partly English) breakfast, the front desk (service driven). e.k. rome, italy
The location is great if you only have a short time - close to all important sites, you save a lot on transport time in the jamned BKK,
