Set in the mystical Fiordland of the south island of New Zealand, Takaro Peace Resort understood the great beauty of the region long before it became known as the scenery for middle earth in the lord of the rings. This recently opened luxury resort has been designed as a place to relax, unwind and recover from the stress of daily life. Its uniquely themed 5-element chalets have been created by a world leading Feng Shui consultant to encourage peaceful sleep.
The restaurant combines western and Chinese influences, and offers produce from the lodge's organic gardens along with homemade breads, dairy products and wine.
Takaro Peace Resort located on a 2000 acre private estate which is rich in activities, from trout fishing in the beautiful Upakerora River to hiking in the surrounding Fiordland National Park.
But while it's easy to pass the days in the great outdoors, many come here solely for the resort’s Energy Clinic glass Spa, home to the Best Massage in the World according to UK Vogue. The spa features exclusive body and soul care treatments, such as the 10 Hands Energy Massage. |

| Getting there: |
From Queenstown or Invercargill take highway 6.
Follow highway 94 via Mossburn in the direction of Te Anau. Approximately 5 km before Te Anau, look out for the signpost on the left hand side of the road for TAKARO PEACE RESORT and turn right onto Kakapo Road. There is a small wooden house on the corner of Kakapo Road which is a replica of one of the Takaro Peace Resort chalets…
Continue on Kakapo Road which will turn into a gravel road. Follow the signposts to TAKARO Peace Resort. After 1.5km on the gravel road turn left onto Takaro Road (not Dale Road). Follow this road to Takaro’s main gate. The gate is usually closed, but not locked. After another 7km you will reach Takaro Peace Resort.
The total drive is about 28 km from the beginning of Kakapo Road. Please allow at least 35 minutes driving time and be careful driving on the gravel road which is quite narrow and partly winds through forest. |

0-2 years: free of charge
2-12 years: NZ$200 per day
12-18 years: NZ$400 per day
18 or older: adult price
A babysitter is available for NZ$15 per hour. |
