Talay Karon Beach Resort Phuket

Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel appears well suited to famklies.

Small swimming pools, poor style. Internet access is really slow and most websites were blocked. Walking distance to the Karon beach main street but not many choices of food and shopping. I book it with a cheap price and it worths. However, I won't recommend it if you have high expectation on your trip.

Very relaxing atmosphere and a haven for kids holidaying in phuket. World class customer service and food was fresh and cheap. highly recommended in Keron beach area.

My children have their own funs, as they enjoy the kid play ground & swimming pool.

This resort is great if you have kids, and good alround regardless. On the down side, a 15 minute walk from beach or karon nightlife. Without kids I might stay at Kata on beach, but with kids I would come back here every time.

A good resort for famililes, with its facilities for children. A bit far from the beach and the town, though. The nearby restaurant, Joe Kool's, is appalling. Everything tastes as if it has been covered with vinegar, and is inedible.

I stayed there with my wife and daughter for 5 days. Hotel is good , but transportation is difficult same as all the hotels which are not in Patong Beach. In fact , it is just 5-10 minutes by taxi or tuk-tuk but as they are managed by "Mafia-like" people, it becomes problem. I should thank to the Management of the hotel who arranged me the hotel car when I had a problem with taxi-drivers. As a conclusion, you can enjoy your stay in this hotel , but I advise you to rent a car for transportation which is cheaper and more flexible compared to public transportation.

It is really a family hotel. I would not want to go there in high season but in low season it is nice. We stayed there with kids and they enjoyed it very much. The beach is very nice. Breakfast is good.

Excellent hotel. Only short walk to shops and restaurants. Pricing in resort was excellent for minibar and food. Facilities were great for all ages (even found myself in the kids pool as it had a water slide)

A short walk to the beach. The rooms are spacious with big screen tvs and dvd player. The water slide was the highlight for me. You can really get some speed if you use the mat on the slide!

We stayed at the Ramada in feb 2007. It takes you a few minutes to walk to the beach (the beach is really nice) and about 10mins to walk into Karon center. The Ramada seems to be newly refurbished, they place is good for kids, with lots of activities, toys etc. We had a nice room with a pool view, but many of the rooms are facing the street outside, which would probably mean some traffic noise. The breakfast was very good. The staff was really nice.

Not conveniently located as one would need to walk about 20mins to town centre where many restaurants and shops are located. The resort's 2 restaurants serve mainly Western cuisine with very few Thai choices. Highlight about the resort is the availability of theme rooms like "Underwater Room", "Outerspace Room" and "Castle Room" which my children enjoyed.

Excellent breakfast;geared towards kids - could be noisy

As a world traveller with my company, i was use to high standards in hotel accomadation, at the ramad i was not disapointed, very clean well maintained to high standard, excellent service throught out the whole staff, resturant food was lovely. A short walk across to a beautiful beach, situated in a quite part of phuket. I look forward to staying again in the future. Gill, England February 2007

this hotel is excellent and in particular both pools are top class. i would definetely go back again. the beach is about 10 mins walk away and is about 3 miles long with clear water and good sand.on the down side it is a little bit far from karon which is not much of a place anyway. if you want to get good bars and restaurants get a tuk tuk to pathong 10 mins down the road. also the food in the restaurant joe kools is very expensive by thai standards which is a pity because it is very good. a few good restaurants nearby though. the coffee shop on site is better value. breakfast buffet is excellent.

We stayed at many hotels in phuket and this one is by far our favourite, we came back because it was excellent. Outstanding children facilities, but we are a young couple. The bads points are... it is 5 min to Karon walking (karon is expensive), don't take the ocean view room (it is close to the road). Having said that you can be confident that this is one of the better hotel and I would consider it good value for $$$ if you get a discount rate. Rooms are card swiping +++ so you get air condition 24hrs. Personally I play table tennis with the staff, they also have an ex-light weight champion thai boxer (Mr. Chin) that gave lessons at 5pm when he was working. Book this hotel without the hassle of many of the others, it is also nice just to lounge around, do internet or swim in the pool. I also found it especially difficult to research online, so I hope this helps some people.

Recommendation to family. Excellent, if you have kids to 12 years. Two swimming pool, its very good idea. We had very nice holidays

The family-oriented atmosphere is excellent. The only suggestion I can make is that the gym should have more equipments, space and privacy.
