Tanoa Paihia Hotel Guest Reviews

3.4 out of 5

Good value hotel, though we awoke to find hundreds of ants in the bathroom which had tracked into the bedroom and we found some in our bed. We reported it to Reception and they said sorry.

A good, well placed budget hotel on the flat a short way away from the town centre. Would stay again when next in the area

My wife and I stayed here for 3 days as a base to visit the Bay of Islands area. The hotel was in a quiet location but was easy to walk from the centre of Paihia. Although we did not eat there the restaurant appeared adequate. The friendly and helpful staff were well led by Amay

we found the hotel really nice. They don't display prices at bar for drinks though. Close enough for you to walk to town centre. The only thing off putting was a person sitting at checkout time at front desk in big baggy sweatshirt and hat on backwards when everyone else was in Uniform

Nice presentation in the room. Room was clean and tidy. Pool was good and clean, spa was nice and warm. Overall we were happy with the visit we had there.

Hotel is quite old and dated. No privacy in rooms if hot as all windows open onto walkway so passers by could see right into the room. No lift, we had to lug heavy suitcases up/down 2 flights of out door stairs (no porters) - fun in the rain! Very noisy as hotel is extensivly used by coach tour companies. On the plus side internet use inexpensive and efficient, and front office staff helpful. We did not dine in-house. Town has pleanty of accommodation nearer to waterfront which I would choose from were we to return to Paihia.

Hotel Paihia was perfect for our requirements. The staff were friendly and helpful, the room rate was the best available rate in the area at the time and the location was convenient. Would stay there again.

A clean and friendly hotel with good facilities and parking. The hotel is only a short walk from the main town and is therefore not plagued by traffic noise and boisterous holiday makers.

This motel is only a 10 minute walk to the harbor, beach, cafes and restaurants. Parking is free but can be limited if many rooms are not booked by tour buses. Staff is helpful and friendly. Take the ferry to Russell Island and spend the afternoon or have dinner their you'll enjoy the island.

Very helpful staff welcomed us even though were early for check-in. Our room was still being prepared but we were allowed to use it briefly before we headed out again. Many thanks.

We stayed for four nights at Hotel Paihia this summer with our two daughters and we were very impressed by the facilities and services that were provided. The pool and spa were great and this is definitely value for money. The staff were all very helpful and friendly and great location just a five miute walk into Paihia.

"Utterly Competent" Nothing flash about Hotel Paihia, pretty basic room to be honest. Still, the last place you should be in the Bay of Islands is in a hotel room. There is so much to do and see, it would be a shame to have a nice room I suppose. As a place to stay for a couple of days, it was alright, a bit to much " motel accomidation" for my likings but it was a comfortable, safe and clean room to come back to after long days in the sun.

Helpful and friendly staff, and outstanding value for the price. Rooms are standard hotel ( queen plus single bed) and although smallish, were clean, and complete with all we needed. Paihia is a superb and beatiful place to visit, and the hotel is very well located to enjoy all this.
