Situated on the mystical island of Langkawi to the north of the Malaysian peninsula is The Andaman - a 5-star resort managed by GHM Hotels & Resorts. The Andaman is built into the heart of a 10 million-year-old virgin tropical rainforest, cradled between the majestic Mat Cincang mountain range and the deep-blue Andaman Sea. The Resort features 186 rooms, designed in traditional Malaysian style, each with king or twin beds, mini-bar, espresso machines and tea-making facilities, flat screen televisions, individually controlled air conditioning, in-room safe, IDD telephone lines and standing balconies. The 25 Lanai rooms feature sunning decks reaching out to the jungle whilst The Executive Suites and Presidential Suite feature king-size beds, a separate living area, spacious balcony and private bar. Please be informed that the resort will soon be continuing refurbishment works to the guest bathrooms in the South Wing rooms. The project will commence on 2 May 2011 and expect to completed no later than 30 June 2011.

Child Policy:Applicable to children 12 years and below. No extra charge for children 12 years and under sharing same room with parents to a maximum of 2 children. A day bed is available for children sharing. Rollaway bed can be arranged in Suites upon request. Meal rates will be applicable at 50% of the adult rate.

The beach is one of the best imaginable- soft sand, shallow shelf and many waves. My six year old loved it. Fabulous views of nearby islands and the rainforests. Food: strangely complicated eating arrangements- restaurant open only for buffet breakfast and dinner. Poolside dining other times. Food took a long time to come. Many menus - poolside, the larder , the bar, the healthy option, the kids menu. So, if they gave you a different menu (by the pool) it didn't include some of the items which were available! Should consolidate into one larger menu. Food not value for money by a far shot. Gym- not working. Exercise equipment on two different floors as gym being renovated. Keys- worked erratically. (magnetic) All in all, a lovely location. Not bad hotel. Food very poor for value. we will probably go back as my kids loved it. we had a lovely holiday. With some improvement, it could be a fabulous holiday destination

Fantastic hotel I cannot say this enough! Stay as long as you can and hire a car to do some looking around the island. The staff were frinedly and very helpful, great pool, great food, great location, great rooms, clean beach (but do bring some sea/surf shoes as my friend got a nasty cut on her feet from the coral in the water but we still had a great time). If you like wildlife then there are lovely birds and monkeys that come from time-to time and if ur lucky they will have their babies with them, I loved it so much I cannot wait to go back to this hotel.
We liked the hotel very much. Beautiful home corals close to the surface with vivid marine life, jungles surrounding the hotel with different birds and animals, tranquility, superb service, wonderful romantic dinner on the beach. Excellent cuisine. The only drawback maybe the price, but one must pay for the quality! :) And a very good coffee machine in the room! We will definitely stay in Andaman if we go to Langkawi.

A beautiful location with excellent service. Fantasic rooms a place to go to really pamaper yourself. The prices of food and drink is expensive when compared to the rest of the island but when you think of location and the service it ends up being good value. Abosolutely loved it!
It is one of the best hotel in Langkawi, thats why it is very expensive. Hotel located in the forest - it is very beauteful and romantic. Food in hotel very expencive (dinner for 2 person ~ $100-200). Nearest outside foodcourt is about 20 minutes by taxi. If you have enough money it is the best place for you in Langkawi.
Wow! What an amazing place. I miss it already. We spent three nights here on our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. The service is the best I have come across, the rooms were immaculate. The views of the ocean and the jungle from the windows amazing. We laid around the pool or the private beach ordering cocktails all day. The nature is beautiful with monkeys (close your windows) gecko's, squirrels and other strange but lovely creatures. The only downside is that it is isolated so you need a car if you want to get out. Also the food and drinks are very expensive. We had a car so we drove 20 minutes to the closest local eatery. It can also be very loud because the jungle sounds but you get used to it. If you dont like creepy crawlies dont come here, but everything is harmless and nothing gets in the rooms.
Absolutely brilliant. Difficult to fault. Not cheap but you get unbelievable service and its pretty good value when converted to Dollars. Only fault was that you can hear the bar from my room
A lovely hotel with super friendly staff. A hotel that has a lovely beach, you will need a car to get around.
Service was great but incredibly slow. Housekeeping service was terrible. Room was not serviced when we returned by 4:30pm. Location is beautiful but incredibly isolated from anything else which means all meals and activities have to be done in the Hotel. Food & Beverage pricing is very expensive.
A perfect hotel for those who seek quiet holiday getaway, by far the best hotel on Langkawi in our opinion. Beautifully located on a perfect secluded beach, rainforest and mountains everywhere around. The size of the hotel is just perfect: not too big to feel crowded, but not too small to get bored. Beautiful territory, pool and lobby, great restaurants (fantastic breakfast buffet), nice rooms. The servse is just beyond appraisal. The only advice: get a seaview room, if you can afford it, because the view is really worth the price and on a rainy day you'll beel like being on the beach.
Great place to go! Beautiful setting, fabulous beach, delicious drinks. Topped off by very friendly staff. Excellent in every respect.
Great location and lovely hotel (loved the friendly monkeys & inquisitive squirrels). A place well worth visiting and highly recommended.

If you are looking for a holiday in a beautiful, peaceful setting next to the gentle lapping Anadaman sea you will find the perfect hotel in The Andaman, Langkawi. We could not fault it and will return as soon as possible.
I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.
The hotel is under the same management as the neighbouring Datai, guests can share facilities. These are amongst the best resorts in the region.
