"Very friendly staff, great breakfasts, large rooms, well located to explore the Lake District. Good value for moey - would recommend" - Anonymous
"There were blood stains on the bed sheets, smelt of stale cigarettes. Not an enjoyable stay at all. no wonder there were no pictures of the inside. For anyone under the age of 70 this is not the place for you!" - Anonymous
"We stayed here in July. Our bedroom was refurbished (not sure if all rooms have been refurbished) and was very comfortable with a good bathroom. The hotel is within easy walking distance of town centre. There was free parking across the road at the station. The manager and staff were most helpful. Good value for money." - Anonymous
"As other reviewers have said, this hotel caters mainly to busloads of OAPs and is a bit stuck in a time warp. However, our room was very clean, the shower was good (no pathetic trickle here), the breakfast filling (if unadventurous), the staff friendly and helpful. Most importantly, unlike 99% of hotels and B&Bs in the Lake District, they take bookings for single nights at the weekend in high season! " - Anonymous
