"Fantastic hotel, great location just off princess street and right in the centre of edinburgh. Rooms were very nice and also very clean and the staff were very welcoming and pleasant.
Only bad point was that food in the bar and restaurant was very expensive but thats only a minor gripe.

"I found the George an excellent hotel. Staff were friendly, rooms were very nice (although a little bit on the small side). Facilities and comfort levels in rooms were good. Location was great - 2 mins walk to bus station; about 5 to Waverley Train station. Concierge was great for information and checked anything you needed on internet. Breakfast was fab - in a lovely dining room. Breakfast was busy but staff were able to find a table very quickly. Bar was nice - fairly busy but friendly. " - Anonymous

Boasting one of the most prestigious locations of Scotland’s capital, The George is situated in the heart of the city, taking prime position on the elegant George Street – known as the “Bond Street” of Scotland. Please be aware that the hotel is now entirely non-smoking.
The Grade II listed building with its distinctive façade was designed over two hundred years ago and many of the original architectural details have been carefully retained.
The George Hotel offers 249 ensuite bedrooms, all furnished to an upper four star standard, ensuring that your comfort is guaranteed.
Dining at The George Hotel is difficult to beat with the fantastic Tempus Bar and Restaurant providing the finest locally sourced ingredients fused with a Scottish contemporary twist.
Tempus Restaurant offers relaxed informal dining and features a selection meals with menus changing throughout the day. The bar will be open all day and will be serving coffees and pastries from 7am onwards making it an ideal location for breakfast meetings and morning coffee, right through to after work cocktails, dinner and nights out. |

By Car - From M8 and A1 follow signs for city centre and George Street.
By Air - Edinburgh International Airport - Edinburgh International Airport is only seven miles from The George Hotel and approximately 25 minutes by taxi. The fare will cost under £20 but may be higher on public holidays.
There's also a regular bus service, Airport Express X100, for £3.50 single or £6 return. This takes approximately 30 minutes and stops at Waverley Bridge www.flybybus.com.

By Rail - Nearest station: Edinburgh Waverley station - Edinburgh Waverley Station has direct services to London Kings Cross. It is only half a mile or a five minute walk away so please see the map for directions when leaving the station. A taxi from the station takes 5 minutes and costs between £4 and £6. Edinburgh Haymarket Station is approximately 10 minutes from the hotel and would cost £5-£10 by taxi. |

| Car parking: |
It's free to park on George Street between 18.30 and 08:30 every day except Sunday when it is free all day. Outside these hours, there is a maximum parking time of 3 hours at a cost of £1.80 per hour.
Alternatively the hotel can offer a 20% discount when using the NCP at Greenside Place, a short distance away, for approximately £16 for 24 hours. We recommend that you drop your luggage at the hotel first and our concierge will be more than happy to help with simple directions to reach the NCP. |
