I am a long-standing client of this hotel and I can only say it gets betterb and better. As a "aged" one I like the restful situation in this hotel and find the staff v friendly and helpful. It is easy to relax there and all my family members who called in were made very welcome. Will stay again and again and again..
the cosy rooms are definitely only for over night stays and as we were booked for three nights we should have been given a bigger room for the other nights. it would appear that nearly all the staff are trainees but are all trying hard. I didn't ask for another room as the hotel had already honoured our posponed booking due to the floods here in Brisbane but it would have been nice to be offered as I did mention to reception of the space.

These recently refurbished terrace suites are a brand new to The Hughenden. With a traditional terrace house appearance on the outside, the interior is minimalist and modern in design and decoration. With sunlight views across Centennial Parklands these apartments are ideal for people who prefer privacy and self sufficiency. In keeping with The Hughenden approach, each suite is unique. You can select from split level suites, those with sunken bathtubs, original fireplaces, private garden areas and balconies or gorgeous loft style suites. These suites are definitely a home away from home and are increasingly popular for long term stays during periods of home renovations, relocations or family re-unions.
This was booked as a boutique hotel for a romantic weekend. It was fine for this, although an annexe ("terrace") room was allocated which lacked the "federation" character of the main building. The room allocated was very noisy from the traffic all through the night as it hadn't been properly double glazed. The staff did transfer us to a much quieter room for the second night, without fuss. The restaurant dinner was superb and well served though the restaurant was rather cramped. Breakfast was excellent too. There was no off-street parking available for the first night
Excellent old world boutique hotel with good staff and accommodation.
Has a good opportunity to be a very comfortable and well serviced establishment but is run down and looks rather sad.
old style in the perfect location.noisy in the terrace house from traffic and heavy footed guests upstairs. needs sme attention but served our purpose.will return and try another room.
Was an expensive hotel for the size of room and facilities. It suited us on this occasion to visit relatives from England who were staying with family nearby and thus saved us a lot of city travel. Wouldn't stay again from choice of location if visiting Sydney.
Old world boutique hotel. Somewhat noisy both with traffic and with creaky stairs.
great if you don't like big, slick hotel accomodation . Located close to galleries, great shopping, bars and restaurants.
When we first arrived we were struck by the smallness of the room. It was as if one of us had to be either in bed or in the corridor for us to be comfortable. After a while we seemed to get used to being in such an enclosed space, but it was still uncomfortable and we began to not spend so much time actually in the room. There was very little shelf space and we found that we had to use something and then put it back in our travelling bags. During the course of the stay we mentally rearranged the room to give more space. TV up and 2 full shelves right across that wall. However we both enjoyed our 3 nights and feel that we will definitely return, but only to a larger room.
