We had a small double room and they weren't lying when they said small - it was absolutely tiny and I'm glad we didn't pay the full price of a room that small. It was also noisy as there is the pub nextdoor and when that closed, a lot of people were staying at the hotel entered the hallway and you could hear all the noise of them. Overall it's an ok hotel, with a nice park out the front.
Some of the rooms are directly above the bar and outside drinking area so is very noisy. The karaoke night added to the noise levels. Not a hotel for a quiet stay, but having said that, the staff were helpful and friendly, rooms were clean and the food was fine.
The room was quite basic but large and comfortable. The water supply in the bathroom was erratic. The service was very friendly. For the price it was good value.
It was OK but way overpriced for what we had. The room, at the top of three flights of stairs with no lift, was tiny. The bed was not at all comfy - quite hard, and there was no room to move. I couldn't get out of bed in the night without literally climbing over my husband, waking him up! Had it not been so well situated for the people we were visiting I would have very little positive comment.
One of the best hotels we have stayed in. Wonderful spacious room, quiet neighbourhood, walking distance to city center, good service and a poular local pub in the house. We loved it :-).
The people were very easy going and helpful. They made our stay at Links amazing. This place is an excellent choice!
Very friendly and polite staff. Hotel is about 15 mins walk from Grass Market and Princes Street. Its in a lush green area with a nice 24-hr pub. Not a bad location, if you dont mind walking about. In case you like to use public transport or taxis, there are plenty of options as well.
I thought that this hotel was over-priced given the low quality of the rooms, grottiness of the public spaces (hallway unhoovered, carpet frayed and blackened, some doors unpainted in a long time, with marks at the bottom of the door). That said, the room was clean (if seriously in need of a re-furb) and the bathroom spotless. But my take on this is that if you don't look after the public areas, then you have no real interest in client opinion. Service was OK - but nothing more than that. I got the impression that this was the kind of place to come for a weekend on the beer - not great. The only positive was wifi access!
The location is pleasant within easy access by bus of the city centre. The room had a good view. The hotel was good value for money but the Breakfast was disappointing with virtually no service and was taken in the bar area, which was not particularly good.
This is a hotel with a public bar. The bar does not seem to produce undue noise in itself but there were disturbances caused by some guests who stayed too long in the bar and were very noisy in their rooms! The bar was also used for breakfast. Food was very cleanly cooked and the bar had no trace of stale beer or smoke from the previous night. Location, facing Bruntsfield Links, is very convenient for walking into the city - 10 minutes - (if you do not mind walking and do not want to pay city rates). Parking is terrible and only getting worse due to the creation of residents' permit parking.
Small room and poor lighting but great location and very clean.
Had a very pleasant stay, large room, comfortable bed, ensuite with decent shower. Excellent breakfast - cereal, fruit, toast, and full scottish breakfast!
Good location at a good price with basic accomodation and service
Helpfull friendly staff, nice room, great breakfast!
My room needed a lick of paint but OK
If you want a hotel that's reasonably priced, very nicely decorated, has it's own excellent sports bar, mouth watering breakfast, lovely rooms, and only 10min walk to city centre..stay here! It's great for anyone who wants a hotel, but none of the informal stuff that goes with it. There's only 20 odd rooms so it's nice and cosy. The breakfast is near enough all you can eat. If coming back to Edinburugh, I'd definitely stay there again. Top Marks!
We would like to comment on how friendly the staff were at this hotel, we arrived at the hotel quite late and were very tired after a long journey, we were met by a very nice lady who was very pleasant, very helpful and just made us feel very welcome, she showed us directly to our room which was nice and very clean. We thouroughly enjoyed our short stay at this hotel and definately would book there again when we visit Edinburgh in the future.
