Transportation service was very good
Uluru/Ayers Rock is a site of significant interest to those interested in indigenous politics. What I found disappointing not just with Lost Camel but indeed with all the hotels in the resort was the complete lack of visible celebration/acknowledgment/respect for the indigenous owners of the land upon which so many thousands of tourists now tread - land which many of us understand has been 'handed back' to the original owners? Having said this, staff at Lost Camel were superbly helpful, friendly, and all knew the area well. I would certainly recommend this hotel!Of all the hotels in Uluru/Ayers Rock the Lost Camel is by far the most well appointed (with respect to its location within the entire resort), the most reasonably priced, the most suitably designed (rooms were minimalist but absolutely sufficient).
Just goes to show that you don't have to pay a fortune to get good accomodation. great room with excellent air conditioning. Big pool and a short walk to town center. Would stay again
The rooms were small but suitable for their purpose. The bathroom area was always kept clean and the bed linen was clean. The overall cleanliness of the room was poor. The walls and skirting boards were dirty. The carpet was grimy, the daily invasion of bugs were not cleaned away thoroughly each day. The pool was clean, the pool side furniture was shabby, neglected and in some cases broken. The food provided by the resort was of a good standard and reasonably priced. Due to the lack of competition and viable alternatives it could have been worse.
My stay was a business trip, so I didn't really have time to appreciate the area, but the hotel was very clean and the facilities were good. I liked the option of being able to dine in any of the other hotels easily and reception staff at all hotels were very helpful.
It is a nice hotel but very expensive compared to other hotels in Australia. However it is nice to get to a nice, clean and quiet room after a day at Uluro or Kata-Juta and very tired after walking all day.
The room was alot more spacious than in all the photos we looked at. Service was definitely on par. The spatial arrangement was pleasing with modern facilities. My partner & I visited Ayers Rock mid-May & despite quite cold temperatures, it is probably when all the insects start their hibernation. Location is excellent as it is just 1-2 minutes walk to the grocery or town centre. If you look at pricing, you need to consider that there are only that many to choose from, and all from the same company. Either way, prices are no different than if you need to book into a city hotel anywhere in the world.
Excellent hotel. The only downside is that food is not served on site (it is however close by). The best value hotel that i have stayed at in a long time !! The rooms were small but very functional, new and bright.
Hotel is essentially 3 star but for 4/5 star prices. The group that own the Ayers Rock Resort have a monopoly on hotels in the area. However the room had all the relevant facilities for a short 2 night stay. Pool was good and relatively clean considering the geographical area. Alcohol was expensive (again because of the monopoly). Gecko Restaurant in the resort square close to the hotel was reasonable for pizzas / pub style food. Service by all hotel and resort staff was excellent apart from one member of staff at the Outback Pioneer bar who insisted on seeing my hotel key before serving me (despite the fact that her Australian colleague had served me without seeing the key). Apparently this was because of some weird Northern Territories law about only serving alcohol to residents. However no where else on the resort insisted on this including the Lost Camel hotel bar and the Gecko restaurant. She was English so I suppose she was just being a jobsworth instead of using common sense.
OK hotel, but the price is real turist rib-off. Room is small and dark, and price is much too high.
Very classy and good hotel, with nice and well-equiped rooms that include a plasma screen and cd player. Part of the Yulara resort, which means high prices everywhere. Check out the internet for cheaper accomodation rates for this hotel.
four nights spent here was a bit too long but we thogoughly enjoyed our stay
Very compact but functional room. VERY clean and tidy and quiet. Desk staff was helpful and informative; great location right next to information kiosk, shops, and restaurants. I would recommend the hotel to others.
Pleasant hotel. Would stay there again.
Very good and convinient.
Lovely hotel, outrageously expensive as everything else in Ayers Rock. Still very pleasant
Liked the ability to use pools/restaurants at ALL lodging sites. 2 nights lodging (ONLY) just slightly less than 4 nights stay, larger room WITH breakfast included at another hotel during trip. Because of remote location, there is no price competition for facilities. Disappointed with the promptness of room cleanup.
very nicely decorated
The room is quite small but confortable I will use again . price for last minute is correct, full price is too much
no food facilities at hotel
