Built in 1981, this hotel is looking a little tired although the bathrooms have been renovated albiet some time ago. Room was clean, quiet and bed was comfortable if not a little firm. Shower has good pressure and water is hot although hot water takes a few minutes to arrive. There is a sign in the bathroom actually announcing this fact. Breakfast (full buffet) in the restaurant is excellent quality and top value at $16. Plenty of off street parking and good central location.
Overall it was OK. Easy to get to & accessible enough for getting to & around Newcastle. Spacious room although a bit dated for 4 stars. Carpet was a bit stained. There was a very strong chemical smell in the room that would have been unbearable without the windows open but it went after a day. Staff was helpful. We ate in the restaurant - food was quite good but they tried to charge $6 for ordinary plain bread. They took it off the bill though when we queried it.

Would certainly stay at this motel again
very happy with the facility.
Hotel was great. Air conditioning perhaps positioned a bit too much over the bed. Cold air flowing in the bed didn't do good for throats and caused a flu for 2 weeks. Location is in a valley requiring climbing over hills both to town center and beaches - requires a car if you are not very fit. Pricing was very good, even better than Best Western last moment deal!
The hotel was perfect for our requirements and priced quite well. The food and service was very good. We will return on our next trip for shopping in Newcastle.
beautiful room, wonderful service, great view
My stay at the Madison Motor Inn was extremely relaxing. The Madison is exceptionally clean with easy access from car to room and in a quite location. The staff are friendly and eager to help and serve. I’ll not hesitate to stay at the Madison Motor Inn again and will definitely recommend it to my friends
The rooms are a little bit dated. There was a cigarette burn in the sheet and the pillows are extremely uncomfortable.
They had a black out the afternoon we checked in so there was o airconditioning and we could not have a shower that night as no hot water. The hot water was still not working when we had to check out so no shower again. Barely an appology was given for the gross inconvenience.
The carpets were dirty but the rest of the room was clean. The showers need attention as they were very difficult to adjust. You were either too hot or too cold!!!! There were no bedspreads on the beds. Never did work out if this was intended this way or mistake. There was blankets and sheets which was warm enough. Best Western is usually better than this. Don't think we will be returning.
We were most disappointed in our room.It was basic and at the extreme end of the upper floor, Hot water for shower (not at peak time) took over 5 minutes to come through the pipes and then needed no clod water to be added to it No am radio reception available. At a discounted price of $160 a night and breakfast costing $36 for 2. It was not good value
The Madison was a comfortable stay, although I am not sure if it is 4 1/2 stars. It is in desperate need of a revamp if the star rating is to hold true.
Exceptional service at checkin. Buffet breakfast is the best buffet breakfast we have had.We would certainly stay here again Trish and Bryan
It's always a pleasure to stay at the Madison, the restaurant food and service are always top notch.
The room was comfortable and quiet. Overall very clean as well. We will return again.
We enjoyed our stay at tha Madison, along with good friendly service, and great meals.
very clean rooms and friendly staff. excellent restaurant facility and relaxing pool front seating
An enjoyable stay. The restauarant is good. The hotel is quite and easily accessible.
The staff were extremely professional, caring and helpful. Front desk, restaurant staff made our overnight stay most enjoyable. I am a little disabled and their understanding and assistance were greatly appreciated by myself and my wife.
