The Maisonette Hotel Sydney

The facilityies were good enough and location perfect to use as a base. The reception staff were wonderful , helpful and proffessional. I have recomended this to others. the only possible issue would be noise polution but as it is in a busy area that goes with the teritory.. May be you might provide ear plugs in the rooms as an extra?? Thank you

The room was small but very clean. There was good light and ventilation. No air conditioning but there was a ceiling fan. A small fan heater was provided. The bathroom was tiny and everything in the bathroom would get wet when someone has a shower. The water pressure and temperature was not consistent. We were provided with a small kitchen facility which was good. There was an ironing board but no iron. Guests should note that parking is very difficult around this area. No parking is provided by the hotel and most streets are 1 hour parking from 8am to 10pm.

We stayed here for 3 nights, easy walk to CBD through botanic gardens, bus stop on corner, good excercise climbing stairs to our room. Quiet area close to city.

Very good little base for what we needed all the facilities were clean and ready to use, staff were friendly and approachable. Perfect distance from anything that you wanted to do in and around sydney and transport was easily accessible from where the hotel was located.

The Maisonette was in a perfect location for us. We were close to Kings cross and the city to party. Everything is close by, shops, transport etc. It's small, but clean and nice. Nothing too flash, but location is the key. There's only stairs, and the staircase is narrow. If you're on the third floor, a heavy case can be a pain... Pack a backback instead! :D

Clean, basic and functional, with a large and comfortable king-size bed. Ideal location on Challis Ave near restaurants, cafes and the Cross. One small gripe: mounting a ceiling light near the ceiling fan produces an unpleasant "strobe lighting" effect when both are switched on.

not terrible, but it felt kind of like a halfway house and they don't clean your rooms or make your bed, only take away the trash and give a new towel. decent for the money.

Very basic but very clean. Good if you staying a couple of nights. The ladies in the office were very helpful and kept my bags after I checked out until the time to go to the airport. Some negative remarks: I stayed Friday night and it was a bit noisy from the restaurants down stairs; the room only has fluorescent light in the ceiling (no reading light). Personally I think that fluorescent light in a bedroom is a no no.

Nice little hotel in a nice area, small cafes and restaurants in the area, short walk from the city and King's cross train station. If you are looking for spacious luxury downtown hotel this is not for you, but if you want a nice, clean, recently renovated basic hotel which is in a trendy, cozy "neighborhoody" area then definitely go to Maisonette!

Loved our stay here. Rooms are a little small, but with all facilities. No lifts, prepare for stairs up to three flights. Great possie, great cafe's. $100 room key deposit not included, ok on card though. What surprised me was how quiet the room was with the windows shut, nice shutters too to darken room. Definitely stay again.

Clean, cheap and cheerful. Room was very small and difficult to ventilate on very humid nights - they only supplied a tiny fan. However, furnishings good -- microwave, TV, fridge and sink and very clean. Good breakfast in cafe downstairs as part of the deal.

We had an excellent stay at The Maisonette Hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a deal which included breakfast at the cafe next door which was fabulous with excellent service and choice of food. All local transport into the city centre was within easy walking ditance from the hotel. We would definitely recommend The Maisonette Hotel as a place to stay while visiting Sydney.

A nice 1920s-built Sydney establishment near Kings Cross and the parks, a short walk to the Opera House. It could do with a paint job and general renovation, but great value if you are travelling as a family (2 adults, 2 children) and want a place in central Sydney.

Very pleasant & helpful staff. No gym, but the steps to the 3rd floor gave me a good workout.(No elevator). Bus route on the corner with buses every 30 minutes, within walking distance of train station.(Kings Cross). You can make coffee from the hot water in the sink, but in the bathroom the hot water was perfect temp for a shower. Not the Hilton,but a clean cheap place to stay. I would stay here again.

Fitted carpets has seen its best days, thus somewhat stuffy air in the room. Early morning noise from street limited keeping windows open to ventilate the room. No preliminary information about limited opening hours of reception. Helpful reception to solve problems caused by opening hours. Quite good location near Botanic Gardens and Kings Cross station.

my daughter and I found this hotel to be charming, close to central Sydney, with very helpful and friendly staff, with the added bonus of a lovely cafe on the street and would recommend it to one and all.

All rooms non-smoking. Reception unmanned from 8pm - 9am, check if you need to checkin between these times. Toast and coffee in the next door cafe - fine. No lift.

Functional if slightly scruffy rooms in a good location. The service was great -- really helpful reception -- tho it was more expensive than its rival in the same street! Also it has a noise problem as its above a restaurant and bottle disposal/ grabage collection starts at 3am weekdays. The last factor would put me off returning.

I would recommend the Maisonette to anyone. My room was a proverbial shoe box, but it had bed, wardrobe (plenty of coat hangers), table, chair, sink, microwave, phone, TV, fan, kettle, fridge, crockery/cutlery and a window that opens! Fantastic location, and very friendly and accommodating staff. Highly recommended!!
