The Melbourne Hotel Perth Guest Reviews

3.4 out of 5

While it is good staying in a heritage hotel, the place is getting a bit tired and is in need of an overhaul. Location is good so it offers considerable potential.

4 out of 5

The staff were really friendly though a few times they didn't ask me who I was and just handed me the key! Housekeeping was v polite but its a pity that they don't make rooms after midday till the next morning so no sleep-ins or sleeps during the day. What was a real let down was no free wifi or ethernet so you have to PAY for 3G wireless...it the new millenium guys, wifi or ethernet LAN connection is a basic hotel facility like phone and cable TV (nice to see you guys had those :-)) And no gym after midday on weekends =o( Great rate and will certainly recommend it as a budget hotel. Thanks for a friendly easy stay.

This hotel is from a by-gone era and rich in history which I loved, but the decor inside was dissapointing with pine furniture and 80's wallpaper. The location and cleanliness get top marks, but I would have appreciated being warned about the road works going on outside our room every day of our stay.

It seems okay for this type of rating. Unfortunately, there's no window to be able to view out. The room rate for 'without window' should not be charged at $120 but lower, would be good. Parking bay should be included in the room rate.

Good location, excellent food, very courteous staff, good wireless connection $10 a day. But signs of wear and tear, no in-house gym, no garden area, and beware of the rooms with no windows.

We spent a lovely night here (by virtue of the "cheaper rate"), loved the fact that the re-furb maintained the "older style", kind regards, Judy and Ray

Reception staff were excellent and most helpful. We were fortunate that we had a fully renovated suite. If the hotel is to refurbish this way, it will be a top spot.

This hotel, for the price, is very good. It has basic rooms, but the bed was comfortable, and the shower huge and had good water pressure. The food at breakfast was excellent and having the breaky price included in the meal was fantastic. The location of the Melbourne Hotel is also really great, in walking distance to lots of restaurants, and has a Dome cafe just opposite. Also close to the train/bus stations. We did find in the room we were given that the tv aerial socket was broken, so they moved us to another room. The second room was not as nice (missing a couch) but it was fine for us for one night. We would rate this hotel 4/5.

Although there were some minor issues with my room upon check-in, a short list of these on the feedback form the next morning had them all fixed by the time I returned; and thus fixed for the rest of my week's stay. The staff were fantastic, the room was well kept and I'd definitely stay here again.

Hotel parking is valet parking at $24/day, it's not secure and on more than one occassion we had to get it ourselves. Otherwise our time there was very pleasant with clean, fresh rooms, free inhouse movies and a decent pub on premises. Breakfast is totally worth it if you get it (almost makes up for the parking). Location is good too - only a few blocks walk to the centre of town.

The hotel was in a good location and was nice & clean, staff were always polite and efficient. The food in the cafe for breakfast was fantastic but there were a few things that were wrong with our room/stay. * The air conditioner rattled * We had paid for a double room - and our bed was actually two singles put together and with a king sized sheet over the two. Not a comfortable night's sleep falling into the middle/crack * The tv was not working well and/or was poorly tuned. We tried to watch one of the movie channels but the sound was fuzzy/crackling so made for tedious watching. The free-to-air tv was almost too snowy to see anything. These problems could have just been that particular room but I'm not sure. Even with the online pricing it seemed too high considering the things that weren't "right" in the room.

The girl at the service desk was particularly helpful and cheerful, organising taxis and providing useful information when I needed it.
