great staff, great location
This would rank as one of the very best hotels in which we have stayed in recent years. The service was superb, maintaining an excellent standard of friendliness and a willingness to help with absolutely no suspicion of the supercillious attitudes that can sometimes be encountered at a top class establishment. The food was excellent and we loved the Orient Express décor. The room was very comfortable, quiet and peaceful. The Observatory Hotel will become a regular stopping place for us on our frequent visits to Sydney.

Elegantly appointed with mahogany custom-made furniture, each room features King or Twin beds and is decorated with the utmost attention to detail. Rich tapestry curtains, set off by rope tasselled tiebacks, provide the perfect backdrop for the antique-style breakfast table and down-filled armchair, while Colonial-style sash windows open to circulate fresh air and provide charming views of Observatory Hill. Probably the best hotel we have ever stayed in!
We had such a lovely time, and the looked after our 15 month old baby girl exceptionally well. From booking the stay with you through to checking out was a complete pleasure. We were so happy with our stay.
The Observatory Hotel in Sydney is truly an amazing experience. The service was excellent, the facilities excellent and the hotel itself is beautiful. I would highly recommend a visit to the Observatory Hotel.
The Observatory Hotel is a delightful boutique hotel with beautifully decorated rooms which are now 15 years old and I think some asoects of the common areas of the hotel and the rooms may need a face lift. The walls look slightly tired and outmoded. Originally the wall paper would have been appropriate and good qualty. Keep the same style but with a fresher look. A small portable, stylish radio or easy to use FM system not acccessible through the TV would be more than welcome.
From the time we walked through the front door, it was first class service all the way. The staff would be one of the best that we have ever encountered. The room was superb and felt like being home more than a hotel. We would definately stay there again.
My husband & I travel a lot & The Observatory Hotel Sydney is one of our favorite hotels in the world , spent Easter weekend there & batteries are recharged !
Fabulous!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't fault the place.
An outstanding hotel with service to match. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants that little extra service and attention to detail. If you are an art lover the Nolan and Streeton paintings on the walls are beautiful and very impressive. The resturant is beautiful but expensive and the meal I had there was very disappointing but it could have just been a one off hiccup. Spoil yourself and book this one !
Hotel has an excellent bar and Restaurant where the service was exceptionally good. The latter offers only degustation menus on the weekend.
We have stayed in this hotel on several occasions and had made only very good experiences. The only issue we had has been with the bill as we had twice problems to get the money released that was used for deposits. However, we are going back there soon and recommend this to anyone that wants to indulge them selfs or have pets they like to take. To our knowledge it is the only hotel in city Sydney that allows pets.
Really great service, I was getting married at Observatory Hill Park and the hotel made things easier.
We had a fantastic weekend and we will definately stay again in the near future. Everything was perfect and I would highly recomend this hotel to others.
My favourite hotel. Great restaurant and bar. Gym, pool and spa treatments are excellent. Staff very helpful and polite. Rooms are brilliant. More than makes up for slightly out of the way location.
Delightful stay overall. We also had pre-dinner drinks in the Globe Bar and the degustation dinner in the restaurant. Both were excellent.
Our second stay and we enjoyed the ambience as much as we had the first time. The staff and the accomodation is first rate. A small pleasant hotel offering old fashioned values.
Been to a few hotels in Sydney. The Observatory is definitely a cut above others. Try to get on the non-kent st side (presumably more expensive). Service is quite awesome. Rooms probably at least 50% as good as any other hotel in Sydney. Beautifuld awnings/pictures with classic/historical Australian theme. Food was also excellent.
This is a great place to stay in the city without feeling like you're in the city. We received an upgrade to an executive suite. This room was amazing! As our stay was only for one night, our only regret was we should have checked in earlier to make use of the facilities. Day spa is fantastic and all else is immaculate. Would definateluy recommend to anyone wanting so go somewhere for a special occasion.
with out a doubt one of the best hotels that I have ever stayed in. From the moment we checked in to the time we checked out it was brilliant. only down side was room service options after 11 were limmited which is problematic if you are back late from a show.
