Thon Hotel Cecil Oslo

Central hotel, room the first night could hear music and when rang to ask to be moved was told there were no rooms available. Wasn't offered to be moved the next day and had to request a new room for the following night. Was being charged for internet until pointed out they had my membership number already and so should be complimentary. These are small complaints, overall breakfast is good and nice hotel.

I just remarked that the breakfast room was closed at exactly 10 o'clock and they started to tidy away right away even though my friend and I were the only people having breakfast. Made us hurry and did not enjoy it as we would. Why not wait five minutes? Very helpful at the Reception!

Clean and very well located in centre of the inner city, though the city noise was unnoticeable to us. It came as a surprice that we had to deposit NOK 500 as security for the minibar (which we had absolutely no intention using during our stay). We received no information about this in advance - and this was a surprice and a downside to our somewhat limited budget for the trip. During our former trips to different european cities and norwegian locations, we have not been subject to such procedure by any hotel.

In a very good location in the centre of Oslo. Near all the shops and restaurants, and a one minute walk from the harbour, yet situated on a fairly quiet side street. Our room overlooked the street. Many rooms overlook the dining area in the atrium of the hotel. Wonderful Norwegian style buffet breakfast. We have stayed here twice on two separate visits to Oslo and would highly recommend it. Only thing to be aware of is that the hotel isn't one of the stops for the Flybus to/from the airport (indeed, most of the hotels in Oslo aren't - the main exception being SAS Radisson), so you will have a 15 minute walk to the nearest bus stop if you're staying at the Thon Cecil. If you have heavy suitcases, this could be a potential problem, but I would advise that you get off at the central bus station and then get a taxi to the hotel.

A little bit of a bumpy start as they were going to put us into a double room with twin beds for our honeymoon. Otherwise, things were sorted quickly. Great downtown hotel for a good price. Will definately use them again.

Excellent hotel, location very good for sightseeing Oslo

Very comfortable and up to date. Central location. Best take a bus or taxi from the central station.

We stayed for two days at the Rainbow Cecil Hotel and we enjoyed every minute. Very good hotel and central too. Great breakfast! Lovely room.

It is a very nice hotel that I strongly recommend!! The only thing missing is ISDN/ADSL.

Very good location, only a few minutes walk from the station. The rate we paid was a saving on the prices listed at the hotel. Bed was especially comfortable. Breakfast was lovely - something for everyone from hot food, cereal, ham, cheese, fruit, yorhurts, fruit juices, hot drinks etc. Would stay there again.

Although not blessed with a nice view, the location was excellent near the heart of Oslo, 5 minutes walk from the underground station, the T-Banen. The airport train goes straight to the nearest underground station 'the National Theateret". No hotel bar, but tea and coffee making facilities. In all a good choice for the price and location.

We were extremely pleased with this hotel due to it's excellent location. It is within easy walking distance to the waterfront, Royal Palace, Karl Johans street, etc., and very convenient to the trams and subways, and a short taxi ride to the airport express train. The room was quite comfortable although compact. The buffet breakfast was good and offered until 10 am. We would choose this hotel again for any future visits.

Nice hotel with charmingly decorated rooms. Single room is small but not too small. Situated in quiet surroundings - (especially if you get a room towards the "back yard" - the breakfast/lunch room) but just off Karl Johan, the main street. When I go to Oslo the next time I will book at the Cecil hotel.
