The Tien Thuy is excellent value for money in Hanoi's Old Quarter. Rooms are relatively spacious and service is friendly and efficient without being pushy. And when you consider there's a lift, and breakfast and Internet are included in the price, it's hard to find anything wrong with this place. (Reviewed by Andrew Burke - Lonelyplanet writer)

While it's only a short walk to Hoan Kiem Lake, this area is less touristed than much of the Old Quarter. A great place to meet the locals is the An Phat Bia Hoi shop, where you can sink endless cold draughts with them for next to no money. Indeed, you could shout the entire place it's so cheap - it would be the beginning of a big night and a great story. From north end of Hoan Kiem Lake, head east along Pho Cau Co. When it veers left and becomes Hang Thung, hotel is just along on your right (south). WE HAVE PICK-UP SERVICE; PLEASE LET US KNOW YOUR FLIGHT NUMBER AND ARRIVAL TIME. THE PICK-UP FEE IS $16/PRIVATE CAR.
