Palacio de los Velada is the place to stay in Avila, so if you can afford it, do not think twice. Location couldn’t be better... The building called Torreon de los Velada comprises several houses dating from the fifteenth century. They were all substantially reformed during the sixteenth century, preserving their medieval air. The House of los Velada presumably had a very active life until well into the seventeenth century and was frequented by monarchs and courtiers. Proximity to the Cathedral and the Bishop’s Palace, made of it a suitable lodge for sovereigns or courtiers. Today the Palace of los Velada has been beautifully restored and transformed into a very comfortable luxurious four star hotel with charmingly decorated bedrooms and superbly appointed deluxe bathrooms. The most impressive area of the Palace is the inner courtyard, hotel life practically evolves around it. This is the place where you can enjoy lunch or dinner on the open, sit down for a chat or maybe have a drink at the bar while listening to music. From here you see the corridors above you, leading to all the bedrooms. If the house was like this in the old days or not, it doesn’t matter, one thing is for sure, it is absolutely delightful. Our Restaurant "El Tostado" will be closed Sundays evening and Mondays.

Getting there:From Madrid and Vicinity: Take A 6 and get off where it says Avila. Once in the city you will see signs indicating the way. The hotel is located in front of the cathedral within the city wall. The hotel offers garage service at 14 Euros +7 % per day. There is regular train service from Madrid every half hour. The trip takes approximately 1 1/2 hours. Beautiful scenery.

This is a truly wonderful hotel with a real experience of history. From its luxurious rooms to the most beautiful patio, the experience was most enjoyable. Difficult place to leave and anxious to go back. a special hotel. Breakfast room was a light filled semi conservatory. Buffet was very good with quality produce and variety. Staff, apart from reception were very helpful.
Extremely loud and noisy, there was aconstruction in the next building from 7am to 7pm, hotel guests at 5am in front of the hotel making lots of noise
Every room is equipped with an elegant bathroom, air conditioning, satellite TV, direct dial telephone, mini- bar and anything you may require. They are very spacious rooms and nicely decorated.
Excellent position next to the Cathedral in the heart of the old city. Good wide choice of food for buffet breakfast. This is the second time at the hotel and would certainly go again.
Very good 3 nights at this extremely central hotel - right opposite the cathedral! Excellent in every way! Very spacious and comfortable room. Breakfast buffet lavish and dinner in the restaurant was one of the best in the whole holiday. A good central point for touring to Salamanca and Segovia

Excellent location and generally friendly staff. The main problem I had were the occasional power cuts. In fact, with my room on the top floor and the main stairs not going up that far, the first time it happened I had severe difficulty in trying to get to my room..!
Very nice Hotel with a beatiful decoration and friendly reception.
The hotel was very impressive, clean and well located. The room and bathroom were large and stylish. The staff were helpful and friendly. We enjoyed the stay there very much and would not hesitate to recommend it.
