The room is clean and location is good, it's just next to the new 1st Avenue shopping mall. However, if you are driving heading out or back to the hotel, the traffic is quite congested because of the cars going to the mall and the hotel is just few minutes walk from the mall.
The Traders is good value for money. It's free shuttle to the Golden Sands resort and free use of the swimming pools there is a definite plus. I would book this same hotel when I go to Penang next year.
Very good location. Most of the shops in the area aren't open early . A friend took us to Carnarvon Street to sample very tasty and cheap breakfast. There is a corner coffee shop that sells local hawker style breakfast like char-koay-teow, Loh mee, hokkien mee, Loh bak, koay-teow-teng for 3 or 4 ringgit each. It is about 10 minutes on foot. For hawker food style lunch, go to Old Town White Coffee on Burmah Road. It might take 25 minutes. Do not miss the hawker food on New Lane which is 10 minutes from Traders. My 19-year-old daughter got 3 pairs of shoes for Rm $39 each from Times Square,10 mins from Traders . There is a sauna and jacuzzi at the hotel for hotel guests without any extra charge . We will definitely go back to Traders again
Hotel was clean and we must congratulate the housekeeping team for doing such good job. However, we were rather disappointed that the 'Triple Room' we booked was actually a standard double room with additional bed. The size of the room and facilities was really not worth the price we paid. The hotel shouldn't try to pass off their double room as otherwise, by charging such high rates.
Club Floor Package was a good deal and the staff was extremly friendly and helpful - they enjoy to serve - keep it up and we'll come back.
an excellent business hotel. Spacious rooms and excellent service. ajoins Komtar so easy acsess to transport and shopping..
New shopping mall, 1st Avenue across the road. Central location & easy access to most tourist location. The traders club is valued for money. Enjoyed the all day tea-cakes, esp the cheese cake at the club lounge.
Excellent location but very affordable price. We stayed at the club room with dated decor. The club lounge is too small that is not attractive at all. We had our breakfast downstair at the cafe instead.
Good location, close to two shopping centres and China town, very good service from hotel staff, will go back again next time.
This is a good hotel for tourists visiting Penang. We had a Traders Club room and enjoyed the extensive views from the 17th floor. The pool was good, and we liked the shuttle service to the sister hotels at the beach resort of Batu Ferringhi. The only complaint is that the Traders Club lounge was too small and too popular, so it was hard to get a seat.
The breakfast was very good and cheap. The staff at the front desk, in the restaurant and the housekeeping staff were very friendly and helpful. The front desk staff go out of their way to assist us with street direction to places of interest and how to get there. The free internet access was a real bonus. A great place to stay.
The fixtures, furniture, etc, are are quite old, but generally it is a good hotel. The beds are very comfortable, the rooms are bigger than the S'pore branch and they even provide touchlight, which is a very thoughtful gesture. Too bad there is no jaccuzzi in the spa. Rception staffs can be more polite and friendly
The location is really good & eating places are within walking distance. Room furnishing & LAN connection are good enough for a business travellers.
Good value. The shuttle bus service is particularly useful and valuable for first-time Penang-visitors. Also the compliementary breakfast and evening cocktails definitely had helped us feeling relaxed (as Penang shops and restaurants do not open till very late in the morning- nearly 12 mid-day.)
My wife and I spent 5 delightful days at the Traders Hotel and we were impressed with the warmth, service and presentation of the hotel. Admittedly the decore is not 2010 style but it certainly is well presented, stylish re 2000 style and everyone went out of their way to make us feel welcome and to assist with any of our needs. The courtesy bus which links you with the Golden Sands Batu Feringi is certainly an added bonus for those wanting a day at the beach. Peterr Hurcum
Overall, it was a good stay, clean and spacious rooms, sufficient amenties, and right next to Komtar, the bus terminal. Just felt it lacked human touch. Not all the staff are knowledgeable about the directions.
If breakfast was thrown in, it would make the pricing much more reasonable.....
The triple room that i stayed was rather small, after putting the extra bed it merely much space to walk. Lucky it was a short trip & we do not carry big luggages else will have problem placing them.
The staff were friendly and very helpful. The reception allows us to check in early at 10am and promptly informed the housekeeping to get ready the room for our comfort.
Excellent service and very friendly staff. Hotel facilities are A grade and the visitation right to Shangri La are a plus. Room a bit small, does not have much space to move aound.
