Our trip was a success and the hotel's convenient location made everything easy. The main issue was the service of the hotel. You can tell the maid and desk staff is severely understaffed. Our check-in time was promised at 3pm, but we didn't get into our room until 5pm. This can be a huge inconvenience if you have dinner or theatre plans close to 6pm or 7pm. The delay was due to rooms not being clean and ready for guests to check-in. Overall the experience was good, but waiting in the lobby for 2 hours waiting for your room can be frustrating.
Tremont Hotel was a great hotel to stay at.The staff was wonderful.The bed was very comfy.great shopping minutes away.We were really happy with the entire stay.The only negative is they charge $49 a night to park.We parked at a self-park a block away and still were charged $35 a night.
The room was clean, close to everything and Mike Dickta's steakhouse that is connected to it was amazing.
We booked this without knowing anything except what the reviews revealed! We were very pleased! It is a vintage hotel very clean, very comfy bed, very quiet and right near everything. We just wanted a sleeping room and that is what this is but it is very nice and spacious. We stayed in 801. There are no vending machines, ice machines or anything here but there is a Starbucks right across the street and a restaurant in the lobby (a nice one) recommended by an outside source as a great steakhouse. We only ate there for the continental breakfast which was not included but we did get it free for signing up for their "rewards" program.
Price and location great. New beds that I could hardly get my 16 year old out of. Can walk to everything...Water Tower, right off the Magnificent Mile...All buses within two blocks and train within three. Staff knowledgeable and friendly. $5.00 breakfast and free coffee. Also, Starbucks directly across the street. Will go back, and reccomend to anyone who asks.
My priorities: clean, inexpensive, good location. Tremont met them all. Desk clerk was welcoming. Room was a bit dated and worn, but CLEAN. Mattress was more comfortable than home! Bath fixtures were a little hard to operate--maybe early handicap-accessible design that must have been better on paper? Couldn't believe how quiet it was, even with construction next door. Rate couldn't be beat by a long shot. Located right off Mag Mile and Hancock Tower, so easy to shop, grab taxis / tour buses, and find your way back after meandering! Free WiFi, which is so helpful for travelers. True, hotel has only one small, slow elevator. But an extra thirty-second wait is no big deal. (Hint: bring your own hair conditioner.) Please don't tell anyone how great this place is...I want there to be room at the inn when I return to Chicago!
Stayed here for two nights on a visit to the city to see the sights and check out native cuisine. The hotel has some character and charm to it. The service was friendly and attentive. The rooms were very clean and adequately air conditioned on scorching hot days and nights. This is a no frills hotel. A clean room, bathroom, A TV and some air and that's about it. There is a lounge to sit and relax but don't expect a pool or any of those other amenities. It's nestled in on a city block so there's no room for extras. Great place if your just looking to hang your head and freshen up as you tour the city
This beautiful boutique hotel provided me with some much needed rest. It was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and the room was extremely quiet.
Close to Magnificent Mile but room was small-- no pool or lounge to watch tv; breakfast was $5 and not really worth it;
Simple, elegant decor, would be perfect for a trip to Chicago for business or pleasure if not for the price which is simply not justifiable. To charge $250ish a night with zero amenities (no pool, gym, on demand movies, etc), very basic rooms and unreliable valet service (at $45 a night!), is simply unfair. Friendly staff and free wi-fi however a plus, Just sort of ho hum, but well located.
Classy hotel with a European feel. Room a little small but not an issue for a couple. Great location to explore Chicago from. Only downside side was no one offered to take our suitcases up. At least we didn't need to tip!
Staff was very helpful and freindly!
Great staff and excellent location. The bar/restaurant next door is great for drinks, breakfast and dinner.
Average pricing but a great location for Chicago. The rooms are nice.
An older Hotel with lots of Charm and a great location.
I was very worried about staying here after reading some bad reviews but I was pleasantly surprised. The elevator was fine, didn't care about abit of ripped wallpaper and the location of the hotel and friendliness of the staff more than made up for it. Would recommend this hotel. Has Mike Ditkas restaurant right in the building with a cigar bar. Awesome!
