As a regular at the El Paraiso for over 25 years, I always enjoy my stays. Not a luxury hotel, but offers really good value for money, especially for this part of the coast. In a quiet location, 10-mins west of San Pedro & 15-mins from Puerto Banus, it is situated 1-mile up hill from the Crowne Plaza & Benavista and has great 180-degree views of the coast, all the way to Gibraltar. The outdoor pool & gardens are great for relaxation, plus indoor pool, sauna and hot-tub. Ask for a room on the 4th or 5th floor, overlooking the pool. It is not a 'lively' hotel and that is one of the reasons I return; it enables me to chill out and recharge my batteries in pleasant surroundings. A car is probably essential here. Also, there are some good restaurants at the bottom of the hill and the hill is rather steep (especially on the way up!). For a real treat, try the Ramos Restaurant, 5-mins walk from the hotel. EUR120 for two will give you a dinner to remember (3 courses, wine, aperitif & coffee).
we thought it was excellent, the only thing is i thought we were going to view the pool and gardens from our room but instead we were looking at the mountains. the food was good and the wonderful gardens roses leading to the pool was a delightful sight, there was a heated pool and jacuzzi. the weather was gorgous so we used the exterior large pool, good value recommended.
Reported room tv as out of order. Problem looked into same day, but tv still remained unwatchable due to poor reception.
Hotel was generally clean but a little dated. Bedding was old and needed updating. Children are not allowed in either of the 2 bars as they are both smoking bars which was a disappointment as it is in a residential area and you need to drive to the nearest bars. Was nothing for children or adults with children to do in the evening. Swimming pool was ok but heavily chlorinated and jacuzzi didn't work. Breakfast was ok but with those awful coffee and powdered juice machines. Overall bit disappointing.
We have stayed at this hotel on several occasions and it is a lovely friendly hotel with beautiful gardens and huge swimming pool. However since being taken over by TRH there is now no courtesy bus so it is essential to hire a car.The bedrooms need updating but are clean and fairly spacious. There is a TV in the room but no English stations.Dont expect hot food at breakfast-it never is!In spite of this we will return.Parking is free.
The rooms were supposed to have a mini bar, but they had been taken out and we had to order what we wanted from reception. We went out to a restaurant for a meal and when we got back after midnight we ordered 2 bottles of water from reception and were refused because the bar was closed. I think this is unsatisfactory that you cannot buy water to drink! If the hotel remove mini bars and refuse to serve from reception they should install a vending machine! The buffet breakfast looked lovely but all of it was less then luke warm on both mornings. We chose this hotel because it looked very close to the Exhibition & Conference cenre, but in reality was miles away. Overall very disappointing.
I loved staying here as the place felt very luxurious. The only drawback, FOR ME ,was that I did not have my own transport, so had to walk 30 mins to get to the beach or bus-stop for Estepona. The staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet was absolutley splendid [estupendo!] They even offered Porridge, which I love. it is a very grand hotel but there was an air of emptiness about it [perhaps because I was there in mid-October].
Cardio-vascular equipment in the gym was of little or no use and needs upgrading. Pools excellent both indoor and outdoor. Beakfast OK. Good WiFi internet access in public rooms. Comfortable room. Ample free parking. Set on a hill and a car a major advantage.
I have stayed at this hotel 4 or 5 times (as a base for a golf trip) and it is looking very 'tired' now. It offers good value for money but the breakfast is poor and the evening buffets are rather dull. On the whole the staff are friendly and effecient.
We have stayed at this hotel some five times in the past year and rate it so highly we are reluctant to stay anywhere else. The enlarged outdoor pool is magnificent. The service is great and the staff very friendly. You do need a car as it is away from the main road and beach but who needs the beach with gardens and pool right there.
Excellent hotel very clean we had triple room which was very good plenty of room, there is a hotel free shuttle bus to the coast but only runs thru the day ,If you want to go out of the hotel you need a taxi or your own car to get anywhere other than that brilliant hotel
The pools and jacuzzi were lovely. Gardens beautifully kept. Rooms excellent, as was the food. The hotel is a little difficult to reach from the Autovia from Estepona but is worth it when you arrive! The Rotonda bar is superb - quite a surprise - it reminded us of a mini version of the top of the Stratosphere Hotel Las Vegas. We can thoroughly recommend this hotel.
Another pleasant stay at the El Paraiso. The vista from the seaview rooms is worth the money on its own. Very pleasant staff in all departments and the rooms are always cleaned impeccably. The revamped pool area set in the mature gardens is a great place to simply relax in the sun. Just two minutes from the hotel is a great restaurant called 'La Alcaria de Ramos' - give it a try, you won't be disappointed!
Grounds of the hotel lovely and well kept. Room good size with a balcony overlooking the pool but furnishings needed updating.Facilities include large outdoor pool, good sized childrens pool. Indoor pool and a jacuzzi with gym facilities. Plenty of sun beds and areas of shade beneath the trees. Breakfast, included on our stay, excellent ranging from cerals, cooked breakfsst, freshly prepared omelettes of choice, fruit and assortment of bread. Only down side is the distance to the nearest restaurants if you want a change from the hotel food, mostly buffets. If you don't mind driving down the road there are some good coices. The Italian Da Medici is very good although pricey, we also tried the Chinese which again was very good and reasonable. Area surrounding the hotel is very peaceful not the usual tourist area. We will definately return.
stayed here last year before it changed hands would not repeat not stay again
Not a modern hotel but a grand building in a stunning location surrounded by golf and sea views. Breakfast very average.
I have stayed in this hotel many time over the years and can truly say that I have never had a bad experience in this hotel. The views from the rooms over the pool area are superb with views on clear days all the way to Gibraltar and the African Atlas mountains. The rooms at the front have magnificent views over the golf course and the mountains. The area has many good restaurants catering for all you tastes. If you are a golfing fanatic then you really are in Paradise. (Paraiso).
Good value; quiet, large gardens & pool; rooms ok; not much service but that which there was was willing. Rotunda bar great for a drink
Been a regular visitor to the El Paraiso for 25-years now, so that must say something about this place!. It sits atop a hill midway between Puerto Banus & San Pedro, with fabulous seaviews and Gibraltar & Morocco are visible on the horizon. Nice peaceful atmosphere, classy bar ('La Rotonda') on the top floor, lovely outdoor pool and gardens. We got a great deal thru [website], paying just £44 per night for B&B. They are gradually upgrading the property so get in quick whilst the prices are good! The hotel is approx 1/2 mile from the main highway up a steep hill so carhire is essential. Nearby (2-mins) is a great restaurant called 'La Alcaria de Ramos' - one of the best we have visited, with fabulous food and service. Well worth a visit.
My family and I really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff were friendly, service good, very clean, beautiful grounds by the swimming pool/restaurant area, breakfast excellent. The decor was slightly dated but would certainly not put me off staying there again. It would have been nice to have had a coffee/tea facility in our room. Great location and good value for money. Any requests were always dealt with swiftly and with a smile. We would definitely stay there again.
