The Athanor hotel, it''s the pleasure of an attractive 16th century residence, in the heart of the old town, two steps from the famous Hospices and Notre-Dame Basilica, where you are welcomed with friendly smiles… The lobby welcomes you with its private bar, mellow chairs and a billiard. Continue the visit and come into the sunny wooden beamed breakfastroom with a stone fireplace. A majestic solid wooden staircase leads to the rooms… Arriving either by the solid wooden staircase or by the lift, be environed by the charm of our 34 very different rooms. Some are located under the roof, with a large space to live, some others are decorated like if you were at home, with ancient furniture, warm colours and large windows opening on a small street and its old houses in a typical burgundy style. A colour plate TV, a direct dial telephone.

Getting there:Motorway A6 exit Beaune Nord, then make a left direction Beaune centre ville. After about 2 km you''ll get on the boulevard in front of the porte St Nicolas. Make a right and at the 3rd light make a left on avenue de le republique. The hotel is located down the avenue on your right.

This hotel was very helpful with information eg taxis, and flexible about check in time. We got back from a wedding party at 3am in the morning and let ourselves in to our lovely quiet clean comfy room. Next morning early we had a wonderful fresh buffet breakfast, nothing too fancy, but fountains of coffee, and apple slices. Lovely. Staff smiling and elegant.
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. We managed to park our hire car just down the road in a public parking facility which was a bonus. The staff were very friendly and obliging to us which made our stay a relaxing one. It is in the old section of Beaune and walking distance to the town, restaurants and general town siteseeing. The Saturday markets start in the hotels street which was a bonus. It was very quiet in our room and very comfortable. We would highly recommend this hotel for its location, restfullnes and friendly staff (although some mornings our bed was not made properly and little things like replacing toilet paper or tissues were not done -cleaners oversight). We did not like the smoking allowed in the lounge area although we have been told that smoking in banned in all public areas from Jan 08 (which is great news!).
Breakfast was expensive (16 EUR/person) with regards to quality and choice.
Apart from an excellent position (2 min walk to historical centre), this hotel was a major disappointment. We paid a low room rate and got what we paid for. The room was very small, outdated and extremely hot - no air conditioning. If you want an excellent position this is the place but don't expect much more. Recommend as a 2 star hotel not 3 star.

Unusual rooms in lovely old building right in the centre of Beaune, perfect for exploring the town.
A great area, right in the middle of an old cobblestoned village. Everything in a short walking distance. One of our best experiences.
