441 Royal Parade Parkville VIC 3052
Vibe Carlton is a hotel with a difference. Originally built and opened in 1961 as the Park Royal, it has been completely renovated and upgraded to a 4 star standard. What is special about this renovation is that the architectural and design integrity of the retro sixties building has been maintained, while creating a contemporary hotel which is sophisticated, edgy and modern. The complete renovation and transformation has seen the 87 hotel rooms and suites, lobby and reception, restaurant and bar, all thoroughly refurbished, and the addition of al fresco eating areas, café and bar and meeting rooms, resulting in a hotel worthy of launching Vibe in the Melbourne market.

We have stayed here many times and have always been highly impressed by everything except the occasionally disinterested staff member and the restaurant. It is clean, well maintained, perfectly positioned for public transport or walking, has great parking facilities and contemporary amenities. The pool is delightful and the hum of traffic from Royal Parade is not too overwhelming. Coach tourists can be quite noisy as the hallway/room sound-deadening is not as good as the newest hotels.
This hotel was a very pleasant surprise. It is 'handy' to the city of Melbourne, and set amongst the leafy parklands of North Carlton. Being across the road from the Carlton Football Club ground, it would be ideal for footy fans from interstate, or avoiding if you are not into footy! Our room was certainly clean and spacious with 2 queen beds. Quite large bathroom, although the shower head threatened to fall out of the wall. Our visit was definitely at an off-peak time, but it is fair to assume that it be quiet even when the hotel was full. The only downside was that it seemed to lack a vitality that we were expecting from the name... and the lime green arch.
This is the second time I have stayed here and find it terrific value. Very spacious rooms which are comfortable, easy access to the city, gym/pool/etc if you want it, and a reasonable breakfast make it great value. Not luxurious, but the service is great and it is ideal for a longer stay. Sheila Schmidt, Perth.
Convenient location, friendly staff & clean and tidy rooms. Expensive restuarant though.
great place for ease of access to city but last two times we stayed we got noisy rooms..need to ask if u can get a back room..front rooms are noisy
Very basic hotel but it is cheap. We found it noisy and the bathroom was extremely small, shower design left a lot to be desired. Breakfast buffet was very simple and dinner is definitely not recommended. Neither are the restaurants down the road (Brunswick? Sydney Road) where they advised us to go on our first night.
Great rooms - modern chic stylish renovation. Rest of hotel still a bit basic - but suitably priced. Good location for nth Melbourne area. Pool area (outdoor) looked nice but too cold right now! Surprise was $10 parking charge for outdoor parking, no better than any other motel that doesn't charge for parking!
An older building but in good order - close to good range of restaurants - public transport very convenient - a short and pleasant walk to Carlton or the CBD. Book online - the walk in price is much higher....
Very handy location and good on site parking. Easy access on to freeway to airport. Shower sprayed around a bit too much.
Breakfast is simple and a bit disappointed.
Excellent facility, only down side was lack of choice on the menu. Ordered battered fish and boy was it battered must have been deepfried about 6 times. rest of meals ok.
I frequently stay at this motel which I would recommend to others. Their breakfast buffet is a bit average. The hotel has introduced an $8 a day parking fee.
Room was spotless, staff friendly and helpful. However, my dirty cups weren't cleaned or removed and one day the cleaning staff left their spray cleaner next to the coffee making things. My room was at the back - no traffic noise, but the walls are paper thin - I could hear every conversation next door, word for word, and no one was yelling.
I felt the service at the hotel good be improved as the first night there the room was not serviced the next day as requested and the service in the restaurant was of resonable service in the evening but during the morning the service was not good, as there was a mix up with the booking information, in reference to the breakfast being included and then on check out that issue was still not resolved. I must give credit to one staff member - Melaine (I think) who was very helpful to me during the stay. One thing that I would like to suggest is that the staff on the front desk are a little more equipped with more knowledge of the local transport and area facilites.
The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The location is great for a quick exit to the Western Ringroad and the Hume Highway. Tram stop is close by with quick access to the City. I would recommend the Vibe Hotel Carlton to visitors from North of the State.
The sound insulation was a bit disappointing......
Curtains to not block out light in rooms facing main road - this would also help block out noise.
After booking and paying for three nights B and B, I found I could not stay for two nights. There was no refund - my fault, it was in the small print - however I'm fairly sure the room would not have been vacant for those two nights so was a nice bonus for the hotel and an expensive single night's stay for me. No acknowlegement of this at the hotel. Would have been nice - eased my pain - if they waived the modest cost of the room service meal I ordered. A lesson learnt. Good location for Melbourne Uni and Royal Parade is now a pleasingly quiet street - quiet trams, no big trucks. Airport bus does pick up at the hotel (another reviewer said this did not happen).
Good location, must ask for a quite room away from the road if you want a good nights sleep. The reception staff are very nice. Contact them first to organise a taxi service as the airport one does not run to the hotel. Will stay there again. The cafe next door to the hotel does great breakfasts and coffee at a much cheaper rate.
We stayed at this hotel 15/4/10. The hotel was pleasant.Staff were polite. Rooms were average. Strange unpleasant smell in both the rooms we occupied. Breakfast had little variety, which was fine for us as it came as part of our package, but if I had paid the $22 each I would not have been happy. We loved the park land location and the easy tram ride into the city.
