Built in 1875, Villa Igea, a three-storey is located in Campo San Zaccaria, surely one of Venice's loveliest squares only steps away from St.Mark Square
Villa Igea boasts 30 rooms decorated in charming Venetian style, half of which look onto the sunny Campo and imposing facade of the San Zaccaria Church, considered a Renaissance masterpiece. Guests of Villa Igea can avail themselves of the services offered by the 4-star Savoia & Jolanda which is only a few convenient steps away. For history lovers, the relics of eight early doges lie in the waterlogged crypt under the Chapel of San Tarasio. Legend has it that Casanova spent many a night frolicking in the adjoining Benedictine Abbey (now police headquarters) in the willing company of its then libertine nunsv

The hotel is situated at the valperato stop so is very easy to find about 30 mtrs up the alley. Our room overlooked the square and was nicely decorated with comfy beds. We visited in Nov and the hotel was warm. Breakfast is taken in the sister hotel near the water which suited us. Staff are happy and very helpful. If you turn left and left again when leaving the hotel, you pass shops and restaurants and get to St Marks square entering at the side of the Bailica, which you must make time to visit. I will be going back to this hotel.
For a reasonably priced hotel, this place was spectacular. The room we had was quite large by European hotel standards, very pretty, and quite comfortable. The location is superb, right near St. Marks and directly across from the San Zaccaria vaporetto (water bus) stop. The view from our room was spectacular, looking directly at the church of San Zaccaria and the small square in front of it. The concierge, Tomas, was helpful beyond words, and the rest of the staff were all excellent. We'd stay there again any time we are in Venice.

Villa Igea was very close to the water taxi drop off and easy to walk around and find great shopping for souvenirs, beautiful custom hand-painted masks, however the food was very expensive and the quality was not there for the price you pay. I suggest skipping the restaurants and eat at a small bar or take-away place, or alternatively have a fantastic chocolate crape for dinner, like I did one night!
Excellent location to the water buses, taxis and gondolas. Close to San Zaccaria, ideal if you plan to take public transport from the airport. Directly opposite Chiesa Campo Zaccaria (church). Bonus water fountain jst outside the hotel. Would come back here if I ever got back.
Good hotel just a few minutes from San Marco square and 100 meters from the S. Zaccaria vaporetto stop. The only downside was that in my room on the 1st floor (strangely enough numbered 5th floor) there was some noise from an airconditioning unit outside. Rooms facing the alley shouldn't have that problem.
Staff were very nice, friendly and generrally happy which makes a huge difference. Very proffessional and a credit to the hotel. The buffet breakfast was very good with the usual yoghurts, fruits, cereal, bacon , eggs, tea coffee and juices. I would recommend.
I highly recommend this great hotel which I have just come back from (Oct 06). The staff were lovely, the breakfast at the 4 star hotel next door was fab and the location couldn't have been better. It is so peaceful here despite being 3 minutes' walk from St Mark's Sq. I would defintely go back; fantastic hotel at a bargain price!
Stylish Venetian hotel offering really good value for money. Near San Marco and Vaparetto Station Zaccharia, so it was ideally situated for visiting Venice and the isles of Murano, Burano, Torcello, Lido and Giudecca.
The location was excellent as well as the staff. Nice breakfast was included in the price. .
The location of the hotel is its greatest asset, would book it again for that alone.
Extremely convenient for everything - only a couple of minute's walk to St Mark's Square, but quiet too. Comfortable with a good breakfast. Great place for a short break.
Excellent location, well worth asking for view of Campo Zaccaria's church. Fantastic breakfast overlooking lagoon.
In a perfect location next to the waterfront and St Marcs Sq we were treated to excellent service by delightful staff. We would recommend this hotel to all travellers looking for a great holiday break.
This hotel far exceeded all of our expectations. The staff were very polite and couldn't do enough for us. The room was very clean and nicely decorated. We were close to all facilities.
Very nice tourist class hotel in a great area. Close to water buses and airport ferry. Given a 25% discount for eating lunch or dinner in the hotel's very nice restaurant on the waterfront. Highly recommended.
We really enjoyed our stay at Villa Igea. It was nice to have the restaurant and services of the sister hotel so close by. Great, quiet, but central location.
This was a fabulous little place and we were very pleased with our choice. Have recommended it to friends and are definatley planning another visit!
The rooms in Villa Igea are a bit on the small side. The bathroom was clean and of a good size. No facilities in the room other than an expensive minibar and a television. Villa Igea belongs to the Savoia e Jolanda in which you check in and have breakfast at. It is in an excellent location, about 2 minutes from St. Marks Square and all the shops. The water taxi stop is right outside the hotel, which is also on the route to the airport stop.
Wonderful, cooperative Staff & personell! Even made us take away breakfast on day of departure. Recommendable to everyone who'd like to stay in Venice
Excellent service and worth every cent. You don't find much hotels like these anymore.
