Waang Backpackers is a budget motel that accommodates for both international & local backpackers. It is located in Tambunan within the Borneo Heritage Village (formerly known as Tambunan Village Recreational Centre).

Getting there:
The journey from Kota Kinabalu (the capitol city of Sabah) to Tambunan takes about an hour & a half drives with a distance of 80km. If you are travelling on your own (from Kota Kinabalu), go directly to the Padang Bandaran (opposite the Kota Kinabalu State Library). You would find throngs of taxis & buses all lined up there offering transportation for long distance travel. Types of transportations available:
Taxi – RM18 per person
Mini SUV – RM15 per person
Mini Van – RM13 per person
Please take note, that you would not be traveling alone as you would be sharing the vehicle with other passengers. Do tell the driver where exactly you want to be dropped off. If you are currently staying at a hotel, you can ask for assistance from the staff to arrange transportation for you to get to Tambunan. Prices might vary with different hotels & might even be costlier.
