Washington Plaza Hotel Takayama

Great hotel ,great position ,staff a little distant but it may have been a language thing,position is right across road from station and there are many interesting little shops around the hotel.The many sights to be seen in this city are within easy walking distance of the hotel and we have recommended this place to our fellow travellers.

Takayama seems to be on the expensive side (especially during the spring festival), and this hotel was good value in comparison with others in town. You are not more than a 10minute walk from the historical district, and straight across the road from the bus terminal, train station and tourist information office, so location can't be beat. There are a few eating options right alongside and souvenir shops as well. We had a small twin and it was adequate, small sized - but that is typical for Japan. The rooms were a bit warm and we couldnt find any air conditioning controls, but not uncmfortable for early spring. The staff here don't speak a great deal of english but are helpful and courteous - also not unusual for Japan. Overall a positive experience.

A lovely surprise to find the hotel opposite the train station and an easy 10 min walk to the centre of town. The set western or Japanese breakfast menu was a good idea and preferred to a buffet.

A well-situated Hotel for visiting Takayama and its surroundings. Good value for money.

A spacious room (by Japanese hotel room standards) and easy access to Train station (right across the road but very quiet). Good breakfast and very helpful staff. The lobby Internet use facility was a bonus

Disavantage: 1) Hotel dont have any english / chinese TV channel. 2) Hotel dont provide toothbrush. 3) Hotel dont provide more infomation for hotspring area near by.Even hotel have shuttle bus service but cant find out more details because hotel front desk staff not really can speak eanlish.

This is a business hotel so only basic facilities are required. Breakfast was included making the price very reasonable.

Extremely popular with business men and in an excellent position close to the railway station. Very tiny room by western standards and expensive for what it is. Adequate set Japanese breakfast, but small portions. Could probably do better elsewhere.

The hotel is located directly across the road from the Takayama train station. This is handy, but be aware that the train station is a little way from the tourist strip (walking distance). I´m not sure whether this was a standard feature but our room had a massage chair which we made good use of. The Washington is a great chain of business hotels throughout Japan - we have stayed at several of their locations and have not been disappointed.

Had a great stay at the Washington, most staff understood English. Would stay again.

Excellent location across from the railway station and only a 10 minute walk into the centre of town. The room was clean and a good size. Staff were friendly and allowed us to store luggage whilst we toured the town. Breakfast in the restaurant was a bonus.

excellent location (in front of the train and bus station and only 15minutes away from the old town) the room was very pleasant . and the service excellent . the only thing .do not use their internet . it is far too expensive . the tourist office offers the service for free (at the train and bus station )

Well located modern hotel. Across the road from JR Takayama station. Small sized rooms and bathrooms, very hard beds. Make sure to specify NON SMOKING if that is your preference. Internet access is free (with your own PC)
