Clean hotel with friendly 24 hour reception. Yes the hotel is a bit dated, but it has a fantastic location for kensington and hyde park, as well as for the west end.
What we like about the hotel is mainly the location, it's around 8 minutes walk to the Bayswater tube which is surrounded by a lot of nice restaurants and close to Hyde Park. Room wise, you get what you pay for. We did not expect much, it's a place to sleep for us. It's clean enough, just imagine staying at your friend's apartment/dorm. Basically we didn't have any horror story to tell. We would stay there again just for the location. So in a nutshell don't expect a 5 star hotel, treat it as a good base to explore London.
The room has ensuite facilities, direct dial telephone, TV, radio, hairdryer.

The triple room was a bit small but adequate. Carpet smelt a bit musty. Overall good enough for a 2 night stay. Loved the easy walk to tube station. Would recommend the hotel
Good place to stay. The room was decent, small (as expected) but with efficient use of the space. The room was clean. The location is very good, with Tube stations within a few minutes walk. Staff were friendly. The building is old and the floors creak and groan with every passing. The internal noise is quite bad – in my room I could hear people walking in the hall and even a couple in a room near mine enjoying some “special time”! The elevator is a blessing (I was on the 4th floor) but is scary – it squeals and shakes like it is on its last legs. I was nervous every time I stepped into it, but it did seems to operate fine. Wifi is available at cost. The temperature was kept at very high levels – nice when you first step in off the street, but stifling after a short while. My heater had a life of its own so I spent my stay using the open window to regulate the temperature. They charge a £10 deposit for the tv remote control- I did not appreciate being treated like a child.
The location is very convenient. Would be wonderful if there is internet service as well. Our 2 nights stay have been enjoyable.
If the bed had been better, so would our rewiev! But unfortunally it is the worst bed in a hotel we have ever slept in! The tv lacked a remote and the tv-signal was bad... luckily we weren't in London to watch tv. The room was clean, and the hotel had a great location - but until they get new beds we won't stay there again.
Our room had lately been decorated, was small, no chair, no where to put cases, new kettle but unable to fill it in the small wash basin, no toothbrush mugs, the sheets were clean but the bed covers looked dirty and were threadbare, the small bedside table was like a worn box on end with no front or back, the dressing table was warn and in nead of varnish. These things would be easy to put right and give the room a much better first impression.
Hotel and cleanliness was ok, but the bed was horrible to old!
The room, bathroom and lift are small but very clean. Apart from the TV reception which was very poor everything else was fine.
Clean & tidy but a few minor repairs or maintenance would be great. Superb location though and handy for tube at Bayswater and Queensway and 4 minute walk from hyde Park/Kensington Gardens and just round the corner from Portabello Road.
Much bette that expected after reading other guest comments about the hotel. I am pleased. The rooms were clean and the beds good. The beakfast was not very fancy, just toast and sereals. Good rooms regardeing to the price.
for the price-a very good hotel, i can only recommend it
The room was simple but clean and the location was good, I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling on a budget.
A bus takes you straight to oxford street from quite near of this hotel and the bayswater underground station is also near. the breakfast was tasty amd i loved the small balcony in our room. new towels were brought in every day. A good hotel.
Great stay in great location. Would happily recommend to anyone.
Negative points : - underground location of our room and the breakfast-room - carpet and towels really need to be renewed - beds are not comfortable - breakfast is a very minimum Positive points : - location: nearby Kensington/Hyde Park, 2 underground stations and a lot of shops and restaurants - luggage room (small, not very clean)
Room was good. Small, yes, but clean and decent. (TV was rubbish). Breakfast was OK but very small breakfast room meant there were people queueing to sit down and also to make toast. Not exactly service with a smile but no actual complaints. Would go again.
No real problems with this hotel as we really just needed a room for the night. It was cheap (though we did get a discounted rate), and we got what we paid for, it is an old hotel with old fisture and fittings. for a one nite stay over its ok, if we were going to spend more time in the hotel then we would have to choose better. Staff were friendly enough, breakfast was simple and edible and the place was wasn't dirty, just dated. we paid £35 so cant be too fussy.
Very good value for money. Near lots of restaurants and have 2 tesco as well. Strongly recommend. Have been there 3 times!!!
First room offered possibly breached health & safety rules, window barred and locked, basement room, no.56, looking out to a builder's yard, debris and dust on windowsill. Had to protest twice before allocated another room after being told another wasn't available. Very basic accommodation, breakfast not continental although described as such, just toast, cereal, juice and tea/coffee. Paying for location not quality of hotel. Won't stay again will choose reliable chain.
