Western Inn Old Town San Diego

I know other people gave this hotel a terrible rating on trip advisor dot com, but the facilities are fine if you are just looking for a place to crash in San Diego. It's not a place to spend your honeymoon, but it was clean and the facilites were adequate. Bed was a little hard, but the sheets were clean. Bathroom was not fancy, but the tub and sink were clean. Carpet in the hallway was a little scuzzy, but you aren't sleeping in the hallway. The carpet in the room was much newer. Overall, it was fine for what we wanted which was a cheap and clean place to stay close to Downtown. This hotel is also within walking distance of the metro station (public transit) and the Old Towne tourist area with lots of shops and restaurants. I would stay there again.

Friendly staff, huge, clean rooms, and decor from 1982. Don't get me wrong, it's in pristine condition, well lit, and perfectly maintained. Location is great, you can get anywhere in minutes, even without a car. You won't find a better independently owned budget hotel. Beware, though: you can't get food delivered (by anyone) after 10:30PM and no kitchen in Old Town stays open past 11PM.

The location was great (only a block away from Old Town San Diego) but the room was a little musty (no window)... Breakfast was included but to picked up in the lobby and brought back to the bedroom, average quality rolls and OJ but all in all it was a pretty good deal. Don't necessary go to the restaurant recommended by the hotel (el coyote cantina), it is a bit of a factory and very noisy (food was average and portions very small).

The service was great and you can't get a better location close too everything. The staff were great and were very helpful. I would stay here again. Free Wireless was a big plus.

Thanks for asking as I was going to send you a report anyway. Had no problems what so ever. Granted it is an older place, so the outside stair covering showed wear, but it was perfect in our quarters, the staff was very nice, parking great and security gate leading up the outside stairs a comforting addition, too. It was a nice hotel, clean and comfortable. The staff were nice, and the rooms were nice as well. The only thing that I really didnt care for was the noise of the traffic from the highway right next to the hotel, but all in all it was a very nice, safe and friendly place to stay with a great price!!

Great location in old town. Clean rooms. The breakfast menu is a joke but right across the street you'll find a Mariott with a real breakfast menu.

I'd stay there again if I had a little more time to visit old town San Diego or catch the trolley to other parts of San Diego or Tijuana. The only negative I might comment on was a noisy water system when other guest were showering.

I enjoyed my stay here very much. The room was large, very clean and quiet. The staff were very nice, and very helpful. The hotel is within walking distance to Old Town.

this hotel was pretty nice. we stayed just one night and had no problems. checking in was good and the room was fine. the shower sprayed out very strong which i like. the location is great for going to old town which is just a couple blocks away and walking distance. overall i would stay here again
