"We enjoyed our stay very much. The only slight problem was that we could not hire our ski equipment there as they did not have big sized boots. This meant having to find a hire shop elsewhere and carry the stuff back. Also the bar didn't open until 7pm in the evenings so no early apres ski! Very friendly staff. " - Anonymous

Chalet Shiga was opened in 1969. With a total of 50 guestrooms (Japanese style: 31 / Western style: 11 / Combination: 8), the hotel is located in the best spot in the heart of Shiga Kogen plateau, and it is only steps away from the ski field, a bus stop, and parking. The hotel is at 1620m altitude. You can enjoy skiing at the ski field with the best snow condition as soon as you cross the car park in front of the hotel. The hotel owner who loves the local nature has treasured the hotel, which you can see in the gallery-like hall with lots of beautiful pictures of flowers and the scenery from the area. The president of the hotel has had the experience of being a ski instructor at Thredbo in NSW, Australia. The hotel bar, Ski Bar Jaron, serves the local Shiga Kogen beer and European beers. Snow sports such as the ski world cup race is showed at the bar. |

| Getting There: |
From the Narita Airport to Shigakogen via trains, you need to transfer twice. It takes about 1hour (3,000 yen) to the Tokyo Station with Narita Express Train. From the Tokyo Station, it takes about 1hour and 50min. (8,000 yen) to the Nagano Station with Asama Shinkansen (bullet train).From the Nagano Station, there are direct bus services to the Shigakogen Ichinose Ski Resort (about 1hour at 2,000 yen).
If your backpack is too large, if you come with a family,etc,we recommend to charter a taxi and come directly to the hotel from the Narita Airport. This way, you can notify the driver to stop at anywhere you want for toilet break or for dinner etc. The price from the terminal to the hotel is about 70,000 yen including the toll fees. This taxi is minivan that will take up to 7 people, but the space will be smaller if you carry lots of luggage. Travel time is 6 hours. We can arrange the charter if you let us know the flight number and the arrival time. |

Children at the age of 6 and under using the existing bed with a parent costs 1,050 JPY, excluding food, or 2,100 JPY including food. For both bedding and food, it costs 3,150 JPY. |
