"The bed linen was very dirty. When I complained I was told that I was not the first to have this problem. I was offerred no discount or any tangible thing that may have eased the pain of trying to cope for 2 nights in dirty linen. Very dirty linen. I went to shop in queen St. and purchased 2 new pillow slips to assist with tolerating the burden. The facilities were very average. " - Rhonda Brunton Sims

"Base Auckland Central Backpackers is a well organised quality backpackers accomodation. I found the staff to be exceptionally helpful beyond the call of duty. The premises is clean, very tidy, and spacious. The cleaning ladies and house keeping staff were especially friendly and I think their standard of workmanship is outstanding. The showers were difficult to operate and quite small, and the heating was a bit too warm for me, especially on the third floor office area. I got very little sleep because of the airing unit and the refrigerator turning off and on during the night, and the street noise down below. However, overall, I think this is an upmarket establishment for a backpackers, and one which I would not hesitate to stay at again. Its very central location suited my needs perfectly as well.
