"When first entering Hotel 59 I didn't quite know what to make of it, but in the end it came down on the side of charming, it had an eclectic feel with some interesting art on the walls and a great location just seconds from Kings-Cross, but the main selling point turned out to be the fantastic service from its' proprietor, not to mention the best breakfast choice I've had in a long time! "Motivated by price? This is for you. My room: small but everything: shower + plenty of towels, toilet, sink, hair dryer, shampoo-soap-etc, TV with remote, tea with cups + saucers, drinking glasses, 1 plastic folding chair, bar fridge, alarm-clock radio, shelves + hanging closet, good & quiet air conditioner (a necessity!) double bed, extra blanket. 2 windows high up with view of brick wall. This is no place to impress visitors: no lobby, just a narrow hallway; staff only in the morning. When you book, you get a combination code to let yourself in. 2 flights of stairs, no elevator. On a quiet street, 2 short blocks from King's Cross station, near a grocery store (Cole's), a corner store that opens at 6:00 am, plenty of restaurants, and a 2nd-hand bookstore (Bugden's). Kings Cross is a lively but safe neighbourhood -- lots of X-rated businesses along the main street, but not near the hotel.
