"I thought the rooms, though not modern were very tastefully done and pleasant to be in. I would have suggested this as a great place to stay - only steps from a park and access to a beautiful beach. Takes 5 minutes to drive to Nelson and there are plenty of places to eat and entertain yourself within walking distance.

"We picked the Kingsgate primarily due to its location, and price - we were not disappointed. The Tahuna beach and park is fabulous for kids, as was the natureland zoo. There was so much to do in very close proximity to the hotel. Whilst the hotel pool is on the small side, we all enjoyed our swims and often had the pool to our selves. The reception staff were very helpful and pleasant. The 'Luxury' double unit was okay, modern furniture and manchester, however if this was luxury i'd hate to see the standard unit! Still for the spa bath, location and price this represents pretty good value. We'd stay here again for the location but i'd definitely get a bigger unit. The double unit was a studio with 1 double and 1 single bed. This was bearable for two nights for the 3 of us but anymore than that would be pushing my tolerance. " - Angela Gibb
